While guest blogging for Parenthood, Tia Mowry opened up about motherhood, being three months into the process herself.
My birthing experience was… an interesting experience. I was scared half to death because I had a c-section. Just the thought of someone cutting into me freaked me out! However, I had an amazing doctor, Dr. Kumeitz, who has the sweetest, most calming spirit. I also had an amazing epidural. The shot hurt worse than the actual birthing process, so I was in luck! What really made it special was that the doctor and room allowed me to play some music. I don’t usually listen to classical music but I did during my birthing experience. Pandora has an amazing list of songs. Even the doctors enjoyed the music!
I love breastfeeding! It’s mommy and baby time. Just seeing how peaceful he is makes me melt. He has been great at latching on since Day One. I feel blessed! He’s a fast learner. I was also afraid of introducing him to the bottle thinking he would not like the breast anymore but he has been doing well with that. What I like about switching back and forth with the bottles is my boobies get a break!
Her first few weeks as a new mom:
The first few weeks with baby Cree were exhausting and amazing at the same time, if that makes sense. Having a newborn is very challenging. I think I learned how to sleep with my eyes open and standing up! Babies grow so fast and seeing this process and how they thrive day-by-day makes it all worth it. Now that he is two months old, it’s gotten much better! Cory and I do shifts so that’s always nice. Sometimes he will go four hours straight and that’s a bonus!
Cree has brought my husband and I even closer. My advice to couples who want to have a baby is to make sure your relationship is intact and strong because you are going to need to support of one another.
