Danica McKellar’s Son Is Growing To Love Math

Former The Wonder Years star Danica McKellar left acting behind to focus on education and writing books that make Math cool.  The actress, author and math whiz is now hoping to impart that knowledge on her son Draco, 23 months. The celebrity mom explains how she is already working on Math with her little guy.

“We’re working on some things. He knows his colors and his shapes. He still gets seven when he counts the toes on one foot — he really likes seven right now!  He likes it when I recite Pi. And I’m trying to teach him the quadratic formula, he hasn’t quite gotten it yet. It’s sung to the tune of ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’.”

Danica admits that she focused intensely on Math after her stint on the hit show

“Math for me [gave me the most confidence]. After The Wonder Years ended, here I was, this ex-child actress. You have to find your identity somewhere. For me, I found it in feeling smart and good about myself.”

Danica McKellar Welcomes A Son!

Actress and author Danica McKellar announced yesterday that she gave birth to a baby boy, Draco Verta, on Tuesday, September 7th.  He weighed in at 7lbs, 2 oz.

“We are humbled, overjoyed and so grateful for this miraculous gift,” McKellar and husband Mike Verta tell PEOPLE. “It’s like we’ve only now just learned the true meaning of love.”

Danica, who is most famous for playing Winnie Cooper on “The Wonder Years”, is now a mathematician and an author. She and husband Mike Verta, a composer, were married in March of 2009.

The couple said they named Draco after the constellation, but the Harry Potter nerd in me wants to believe otherwise.
