Rebecca Romijn And Jerry O’Connell Dish On Twin Daughters’ Opposite Personalities

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell always talk candidly about the craziness of raising twins (daughters Charlie and Dolly).  The couple recently chatted about the daughters’ opposite personalities and who plays the role of disciplinarian in their home.

They both shared:

“This morning we had a little issue. One didn’t want to wear a shirt to school and we tried to explain to her that shirts are pretty much mandatory. No shirt, no service. She wanted to wear her pajamas to school and she wanted to do just the pajama pants, no shirt. So that was quite an incident.
“When we dropped her off this morning, she ran right to [her teacher] and [started to cry] and was pointing at me,” O’Connell shares. “‘He took my shirt,’ and I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I made her wear a shirt. I feel God awful about it.’”

Rebecca says she’s definitely the “bad cop” to Jerry’s softie daddy who hates to say no to the girls:

Jerry Joked: “I would say I definitely make my wife bad cop. I feel awful about it. When they ask for something like ice-cream, I always say, ‘I want to give it to you, but your mom won’t let me.’”

Rebecca added:  “They won’t eat any dinner so he goes, ‘You know what? I’ll take you out for ice-cream instead!’ I’m like, ‘No, no no!’  Every single time they ask me for something and I say, ‘No, I’m sorry,’ they go, ‘Daddy do it! Daddy do it!’ It’s true. They’re right.”

Rebecca shares that the girls are very different from one another:

“She’s much more open to people. She wants to sit on all the laps of the girls in the dance studio … and is a little bit more afraid of new experiences and the other is much more open to new experiences and a little shy with people. “

I do love that Rebecca and Jerry don’t specifically point out which daughter is which when they tell stories and talk about their differences.  The girls will appreciate that when they’re older, I’m sure.

Rebecca Romijn’s Twins Are Risk Takers

Rebecca Romijn, who has two-year-old twin daughters Dolly and Charlie, can’t let them out of her eyesight because of their fearless behavior.

Rebecca said:

“Charlie, since she was a baby, if I get dressed up for something, she’s the one who looks me up head to toe, checks out my shoes, takes it all in. Dolly’s never noticed.

“Dolly’s like, ‘Where is a giant piece of furniture I can stand on top of and almost die?’

“I feel like we’re getting through the death watch period where they might almost die, but hopefully we’re going to start communicating and explain why you can’t stand on that really tall piece of furniture.”

She added in an interview with TV talk show host Rachael Ray:

“They’re at this age where they run off in opposite directions from one another, so I’m still not really brave enough to take them out alone by myself because you can’t run in two directions.

“And if you’re in the middle of the parking lot and they both just drop dead weight . Jerry’s big enough, he’s brave enough, to scoop down and pick them both up, but they’re getting to be big people!”

Rebecca Romijn Says Terrible Twos Are “Adorable & Horrible”

Actress Rebecca Romijn and husband Jerry O’Connell are always so blunt about the struggles of parenthood, sharing their experiences in raising twin daughters Dolly & Charlie, 2.  Rebecca opens up about the terrible twos.

“It’s equal parts absolutely adorable and absolutely horrible!”

She jokes about their “dream” of sleeping through the night:

I’m just trying to get them to bed at night, but they’re two! That’s what being two is all about. There have been so many sleepless nights for my husband and I. If I can just get them to stay in their beds and shut up at night, I’d be happy.”

I think that’s my new favorite quote about parenthood in general: equal parts absolutely adorable and absolutely horrible.

Jerry O’Connell Dishes On His Twin Daughters

On Wednesday’s episode of Rachael Ray, actor Jerry O’Connell shared a few tidbits on his life with twin daughters. The father of Dolly and Charlie, 2, with wife Rebecca Romijn joked:

“The girl thing is like, ‘Wow,’. Trying to comb their hair is like, ‘Ah! Ah! Ahhhh!’ I’m not trying to murder you, I’m trying to brush your hair!”

He says the girls are starting to talk, but their pronunciations are a little “tricky” right now:

“If they see a clock they look at it and say, ‘clock,’ but they mispronounce it. They drop the ‘l’ from it,” he laughs. “I don’t want to react because I don’t want them to know it’s a bad word, but I want to encourage them to talk so I’m like, ‘That’s good!’”

Oh how I remember those days – some of the things they say make you do a double-take because they are trying so hard to say a word and all your hearing is the “naughty version” of what they’re saying!  LOL!
