It looks like the Obamas have a new family member!  Today, The White House welcomed Sunny, the newest dog of the First Family of the United States. Here’s a snippet from their press release::

Sunny was born in Michigan in June 2012, and arrived at the White House today. Just like Bo, she’s a Portuguese Water Dog, which works great for the Obamas because of allergies in their family.

Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality.

Adorable. I’m sure President Obama’s daughters are thrilled!

Michelle Obama Explains How She Keeps Her Family Healthy And Happy

There is no doubt that Michelle Obama does a great job of taking care of her family and making sure that they are both happy and healthy. The First Lady recently opened up to Parenting Magazine where she talks about how she tries to set good examples for her daughters through sports and what she does to ensure that they lead a physically fit lifestyle. Here’s a snippet of what she says:

“We set the expectation that sports are as important as homework and friends. It’s important to learn how to compete, to develop a skill,” she said. “I want them to learn how to sweat, how to win gracefully and lose with dignity. I want them to learn what it feels like to get better at something that you didn’t think you were good at.”

Michelle Obama Hopes She Doesn’t Mess Up Her Daughters

On top of being the First Lady, Michelle Obama also worried about raising her daughter right and hoping she doesn’t mess up.

Michelle opened up to iVillage where she talked about many aspects of raising Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10.

On her ongoing fight for normalcy: “The first thing is establishing rules among the staff that they’re not little princesses. They have to make their beds, they have to clean up their rooms, they have to — Sasha has started doing the laundry, Malia was supposed to be doing it but (Sasha) is really into laundry. My mom still does her own laundry.

It’s really the interaction that we have as a family that makes it feel like a home. It’s sitting down at the dinner table and having Barack’s day be really the last thing anyone really cares about. So he’s sort of the throw-on piece. It’s like, ‘Oh yeah, Daddy, and what did you do today?'”

On trying to keep up with the Kardashians: “Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians — when they watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that as much, but I sort of feel like if we’re talking about it, and I’m more concerned with how they take it in — what did you learn when you watched that. And if they’re learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I’m like, okay.”

On regulating the Halloween candy: “I tell this to my girls all the time – that when it’s time for the holidays and the fun stuff and the birthday party, that you don’t have to worry about it because you’re doing what you’re supposed to do every day.”

On having a little help from her staff: “I know how blessed I am and how rare it is to live in an institution that can provide you with that kind of support. I believe every mother needs a personal assistant. And a chef.”

Malia Obama Gets A Boyfriend & A First Kiss

First Daughter Malia Obama has turned the big 1-3 on July 4 and to top off the cake, Malia has a boyfriend and has experienced her first kiss.

You may think that Barack and Michelle Obama would have a hard time dealing with their daughter growing up so fast, but instead they are anything but upset.

“It’s a big moment for anyone’s daughter,” a White House insider tells the National Enquirer. “It’s a sweet event in her young life. Now Barack and Michelle can’t stop smiling.”

The First family is thrilled that Malia’s happy, adding that her first kiss proves that “family life in the White House fishbowl isn’t so bad.”
