Ne-Yo Explains Why He Named His Son Mason

Mason seems to be a pretty popular name in the celebrity world and now proud papa Ne-Yo is explaining why he gave his son the same name, too. The popular crooner tells People Magazine:

“Mason Evan Smith, you have to respect that name. I’m not going to be that dude that predestines my child’s future. I’m just going to do my best so that my daughter doesn’t end up on a pole and my son doesn’t end up on the corner. And whatever they do outside of that is pretty much their decision.”

Talk about a smart papa. In a celebrity world where names such as Kingston, Blue, and Pax rule, it looks like Mason comes up on top!

Ne-Yo Welcomes Baby No. 2

Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and fiancée Monyetta Shaw welcomed their second child into the world on Monday (Oct. 10).

According to Us Weekly, the gender and name have yet to be released.

Ne-Yo To Be A Dad Again!

Singer Ne-Yo and his girlfriend Monyetta Shaw are expecting their second child together! The celebrity dad confirmed they are expecting baby #2 this fall!

He shared that fatherhood has been a blast:

“[Fatherhood] has been a ride, but I’m loving every minute of it,”

The couple already share a daughter, Madilyn Grace, 10 months.

Rapper Ne-Yo Loving Fatherhood & Scared At The Same Time

Rapper Ne-Yo is loving fatherhood.  Having welcomed daughter Madilyn Grace earlier this year, Ne-Yo is experiencing  a love like never before.

“It’s love like I’ve never felt before. I’ve been in love with a woman before, I know what that is. I’ve been in love with music before I know what that is. I’ve never experienced love like this, its instant from the second I laid eyes on her,” he said.

“I would do anything to make sure she never hurts or needs for anything in life and I’ve never felt that before. It’s special at the same time it’s scar.

“Fatherhood is scary as hell but it’s the most enjoyable fear that I’ve ever experienced.

“You know I don’t got to tell y’all that the world we live in today is not the most positive place all the time so just thinking about the different things that I’m going to have to teach her, hoping that I teach her well that’s the scary part…but its gonna be fun I’m gonna enjoy myself.”

Ne-Yo And His Girlfriend Welcome A Baby Girl

Singer Ne-Yo and his girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, welcomed a baby girl over the weekend.  Monyetta went into early labor and gave birth to Madilyn Grace Smith on Friday – she wasn’t due until January.  Ne-Yo was attending a charity event when he was told that Monyetta went into labor, but he made it on time for the birth!

Ne-Yo shared his excitement:

“I’ve been in love before but this feels like nothing I’ve ever felt. Like I’m in love for the first time.”

November will be a memorable month for the R&B singer, as he also drops his new album in a little over a week!

Ne-Yo Is Learning A Lot About The Emotions Of A Pregnant Woman

Rapper Ne-Yo is discovering the emotions of a pregnant woman with his pregnant lady friend Monyetta Shaw – and finding it’s not so easy to deal with. He admits:

“I’m learning that pregnant women like to cry a lot … and yell for no reason whatsoever,” Ne-Yo told the New York Daily News newspaper.

“You just have to let that happen. If it’s ice cream at 3 o’clock in the morning, you have to get up and go get her the ice cream.”

He recently admitted he’s also “nervous” about becoming a father.

I’m afraid I’m going to be one of those pregnant women too – telling my husband to go get me onions, chocolate and peanut butter – I don’t know, some crazy, weird combination in the middle of the night.
