Actress Emma Thompson, star of the upcoming film “Nanny McPhee Returns”, admits that she is not a perfect mother to her kids (Gaia, 10, and Tindyebwa Agaba, adopted in 2003 from Rwanda) and feels that she fails as a parent “constantly”. Emma even bravely shared a recent incident when she yelled at her daughter.
“I don’t do it very often but I’m constantly failing,” she revealed. “I dropped the ball quite recently in Scotland at a party when I shouted at Gaia,” she said. “She’d asked for things… so I shouted at her, and then she went and hid by the rubbish bins… it was really bad.”
“I spent quite a lot of time explaining why I shouted, and I felt awful! I’m constantly getting it wrong and I make mistakes all the time, but I just figure that if I talk to her and say, ‘Look, I know that was a mistake and I’m sorry, and I’ll try not to do it again,’ then at least she knows that I know that it was rubbish parenting, and that I’ll try to get it better next time.”
It’s always nice when celebrity mom don’t try to pretend they are saints when it comes to parenting. I give her so much credit for being that open about it!
