Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman Files For Bankruptcy

The high cost of taking care of fourteen children has caught up with Nadya “Octomom” Suleman.  The famous mom has been struggling to pay for her family’s high cost of living, but had to give in recently and seek help from the state with their food bills.  Now the Octomom has had to file for bankruptcy.  She shared with E!:

“I have had to make some very difficult decisions the year and filing Chapter 7 was one of them. But I have to do what is best for my children and I need a fresh start.”

Nadya listed $50,000 in assets and nearly $1million in debts! I’m sure a good chunk of that is her mortgage, but wowza!

Hopefully she’s able to get back on her feet after this fresh start.

Nadya Suleman Thinks Hairdresser Set Her Up With Child Neglect Investigation

Nadya “Octomom” Suleman has had her fair share of issues with trying to raise fourteen kids.  This week her hairdresser sold (or at least shared) her story and pictures to TMZ of “neglect” going on at Nadya’s home.  The photos showed a chair propped under a doorknob to “keep the kids locked in a room while she got her hair done” and a photo of the check for $520 that she paid the stylist.

Everyone was in an uproar because Nadya is receiving food assistance from the state and wanted to know how she could afford to pay so much for hair services. The woman even went to social services and they paid Nadya a visit, but didn’t find anything “neglectful” going on.

She told GMA:

“I think, maybe, me and my kids were set up.  We were set up.  She thought it was unacceptable that they’re half-naked going potty.   I mean mom is out there, come on.” As for the claims about the chair, she clarified that one of her older children propped the chair under the door handle to stop the children from entering the room and opening and closing the door.

Nadya also explained that the bill included the 14 haircuts for her kids, not just herself.

Octomom Admits That IVF Treatment Was A “Mistake”

Now that she is officially on welfare with no stable income to help support her large family, Nadya “Octomom” Suleman says that undergoing IVF treatment in order to conceive her eight additional children was a mistake.

Nadya, who now relies on a California state welfare check of $2,000 a month to help feed her family made the statement during her appearance on the “Today Show” on Monday morning. She said:

“I still am working as hard as I possibly can to support them. I made that call reluctantly. I feel ashamed, but who cares how I feel? It’s 100 percent about my children.”

Let’s hope Nadya gets back on the right track soon for the sake of her and her kids.

This third video so far in her series talks about how she wound up with EIGHT babies and she shares a little more insight into how hard it is to raise fourteen children. She also talks at great lengths about her “haters”.

Nadya Suleman Talks Parenting And Help

Dr. Drew has been trying to help Nadya Suleman (aka Octomom) and she appeared on his show again last night, chatting about responsibility for her life choices.  Nadya shared:

“I’m very receptive to help…but still at the same time, I don’t want to be a burden to anybody.  I’m the one who created this, inadvertently.”

The mom of 14 also says that she is trying to parent as she goes and is still learning, but trying to correct her mistakes:  “There’s always the unique differences in mothers and families…I’ve learned so much through my children and how to parent.  And I had the experience of being, unfortunately, being a permissive and diligent parent with my older ones. I’ve seen how that can inadvertently handicap a child — and by spoiling a child, it can destroy them, really.”

Nadya is planning to do a live webshow each week on her new YouTube channel.
