The Mamas & Papas Morph Baby Carrier

A baby carrier can be a lifesaver if you’re a new parent. When you’re exhausted or you just need to get a few things done, it can make all the difference in your day. If you’re on your second, third or in my case 4th child, a good carrier is a necessity if you want to be able to take care of the new baby and still function for your family. If your carrier is secure, comfortable and easy to use, you’re so much more likely to use it, get your hands back and still keep your baby close, whether it’s just to make your two year old a snack or get out of the house. A carrier can also make it easy to feed your baby on the go if you’re breastfeeding or calm a screaming baby so that everyone can get a break. With a newborn a huge plus is being able to easily move that no longer screaming, finally sleeping baby from the carrier.  If you can find a carrier that allows you to do all of this and more, it is an absolute keeper.

The Morph from Mamas and Papas is that carrier and, yes, it even does more. The Morph’s unique design allows not just for a secure, easy to use carrier, but also for the  baby to be easily moved, not just out of the carrier, but to another person. The Morph is comprised of two main parts, the Morph Parent Harness and the Morph Multi-adjustable Baby Pod. The Pod holds the baby in a very comfy, cushy, molds structures that offers support and ventilation along with 5 positions of head and neck support fort that perfect fit from around 8 pounds and up to about 26 pounds. The Pod securely and easily attaches to the harness and is easily removed with the baby still inside. The harness, available in two sizes, is so easy to put on and adjust for a perfect comfortable, supportive fit. It really does zip on like a jacket and can be adjusted to fit like a glove. The straps are easily adjustable with great lumbar support, so that you can carry your baby for hours in comfort.  The result, happy baby, happy parent — or grandparent, babysitter, aunt, uncle, best friend. Because the harness is separate, you can buy more than one (additional harness, $64.99) and pass that baby around without having to take the baby out of the carrier, move the carrier and put the baby back in- just move the Pod from Harness to Harness, pretty cool. It also means that your primary wearer doesn’t have to readjust the straps every time somebody else carries your baby. The Morph can also be further customized with the fantastic Morph accessories– the Morph Liner (washable, available in 4 colors), the Morph Bib (pack of 2 removable washable bibs), the Morph Sheepskin liner (super comfy, warm in winter &cool in summer, coming soon) and my favorite, the Morph Raincover to protect your child from the rain and wind (easily stored in a tiny pouch that attaches to the carrier, coming soon). The Morph itself is available in 3 color options and retails for $139.99.

The Morph really is easy to use and very comfortable to wear. It offers superb adjustability for your baby, so that your newborn can have the perfect level of head support and the correct leg an arm positioning that can be adjusted as they grow. Once your baby has sufficient head control you can either fold the headrest down for more freedom or turn your baby around to face out and see the world. The pod is really made with a baby’s comfort in mind with breathable fabric and padded leg holes. A washable bib is included that stores in the harness, which can be used facing in or out to protect you or your carrier from all of those lovely things that tend to spill forth from a new baby. For further protection, or just a bit of color, you can add one of the liners. The harness is surprisingly easy to adjust to a perfect fit and the whole package offers a very secure feeling, so you always feel like your baby is safe. The unique hand sleeve on the front of the pod makes it easier to securely transfer the pod on and off and is another example of the superb attention to detail. It is possible to leave the Pod in place once you’re adjusted properly if you want to pop your child, especially an older one, in and out. I didn’t get a chance to test this carrier with a newborn, though I really wish it had been available much sooner so that I could have used it with my 4 when they were smaller. I did, however, test it with both my 18 month old and my 2 year old (32 months), facing in and out and it was very comfortable with both despite the fact that they are both just under the top weight limit. Many carriers that are perfect for newborns become uncomfortable well before the baby hits 20 pounds, but the Morph should take you through to the weight limit with ease. It’s more likely that your baby will want out of the carrier before he or she can no longer fit.

Obviously, most important is how a carrier functions, but it never hurts if you can look good even when you have a baby strapped to your chest. The very modern design offers a bit of style to go with all those fabulous features, so this is one carrier that anyone will wear comfortably in every way.  The Morph doesn’t just look cool, which it does, it functions as amazingly as it looks. This is a fantastic carrier.

The Mamas & Papas Cruise

Mamas & Papas, a leading baby brand from Great Britain, are a recent addition to our stroller market, but they’ve been very popular for their terrific strollers for a very long time in Europe. Their Sola and Urbo are amazing strollers that feature modern design mixed with all the features needed for both happy babies and parents. Having tested the Sola and truly loving it, I was very excited to have the chance to test out their version of the lightweight umbrella stroller. Mamas & Papas offers a full line of lightweights ranging from the basic Trip, the lightest & most compact, up to the top of the range, fully featured Voyage. I’m currently trying out the Cruise a very nicely appointed lightweight stroller that is suitable from newborn up through a very substantial 50 pounds. The Cruise offers the same modern design aesthetics of the Sola that I already love in a nice compact package.

The Cruise comes in at a convenient 16 pounds and really can take you from birth straight through to the day you retire your stroller. You can easily tote this stroller anywhere and still have a terrific set of features for your baby, toddler or preschooler. The first thing you will notice is the stylish appearance. I love the dark grey frame, very cool. I also love that it has everything that you’d want in an umbrella stroller- the fantastic new no-pinch hinge, linked rear brake, peakaboo panel in the canopy, easy, compact, locking fold, big basket & back pockets for handy storage, side carry handle and shoulder strap for easy transport in the car or on public transportation. The Cruise offers full wheel suspension and nice big wheels that roll comfortably along with terrific maneuverability, perfect for busy city sidewalks or shopping. The toy loop in the canopy and the adjustable leg rest are very nice touches that make this a great stroller for any age. The harness offers nice, wide, easily adjustable straps with a secure puzzle-locking buckle. The seat is well sized and easily adapts from little to big rider with a very easy one-handed recline, making it prefect for little ones or naptime.

If you’re looking for a new option in umbrella strollers, be sure to check out the full Mamas & Papas line. This is a brand that offers something for everyone- bringing together high quality, attractive, modern design and thoughtful features. The optional line of accessories is just as well thought out with a handy diaper bag, cute seat liner and stroller toys, not to mention the very handy Cup holder & Toddler Handle– a must have for those with more than one child. Not only does it hold your drink, it offers a secure spot for your older child hold, allowing you to use both hands to steer. Such a great idea.

The Cruise includes a rain cover, is offered in 3 colors- Black, Purple & Green and retails for $269.99. To see more of the wonderful line of Mamas & Papas products visit their site.
