Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Marc Anthony Split

It’s been two weeks and finally, Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her split form husband Marc Anthony in the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

“That was my biggest dream, and I really worked hard at it. We both did,” Lopez, 42, says of her failed union with Anthony, also 42. “Sometimes it doesn’t work–and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love.”

As far as the reason for the split goes: “Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself–if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now,” she declares.

And things are not left sour with her and Marc. “I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” she says. “We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic-—and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”

Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony Open Up About Family & Marriage In Final Interview Together

Now that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have separated, their final interview together in Latina magazine seems somewhat of a stretch at best. Inside, the couple discusess family and how to make a marriage work.

Jennifer discussing time with family: “You can have tons of success and all of that is so great and I would never downplay that; I love the fact that I get to do everything that I do; but my biggest joys in life are being able to be a good mom, the moments when I can say, ‘Ah, I was a good mom right there! I did something right for my kids. Or you know what, I’m a good wife.’”

Marc talking about his homelife: “Nothing floats and there are no lights or fans or smoke. Jennifer loves to cook, loves family time, loves when we eat together – all of us, the kids [3-year-old twins, Max and Emme], just everybody. The house is awfully loud with the pitter-patter of their feet. It’s very Puerto Rican – salsa playing in the background and kids in the pool. ‘Max, watch out!’ You know, just real normal stuff when we’re home.”

Jennifer, on making a marriage work: “I mean it’s about time, it’s about making the time for each other; it’s about being there for each other for the good moments and for the bad moments, you know, it’s just about caring. To say how to care for somebody is a long list, but that’s really what it takes.”
