Jennifer Lopez Wants To Be A Great Parent

According to Jennifer Lopez, she doesn’t want to be just the best dancer, singer or actress in the world. The multi-talented entertainer says that she instead inspires to be the best parent that she can be. The mother-of-two recently opened up to In Style Magazine where she talks about love, motherhood, and surviving those tough times in life. Here’s what she says:

On motherhood: “Of course, I’m the same as any parent. I feel the pressures of wanting to be a great parent and of wanting to do right by my children. I feel the pressure of knowing you can’t be perfect even though you want to be. One thing I’ve learned: Being a mom, or a dad, is the most important job there is. It doesn’t matter who you are. You have to embrace it for everything that it is.”

On love: “The most important quality the man in my life should have is that he is sweet. I like the good guys… The hard part is that you never stop believing in love. You never stop. But that’s also the best part. You never stop believing, and you never, ever give up.”

On surviving tough times: “I live by the mantra that God doesn’t give you anything you can’t handle. It’s not until something bad or difficult happens that you really get to grow. And then you realize that those difficult moments, the times when you feel pain, are when you do a lot of your growing. You realize: There’s no reason to be terrified of things. Either way I’m going to be OK. At this point in my life, I’ve learned I can really survive things.”

Jennifer Lopez Talks Motherhood In Vogue Interview

She might be getting a lot of attention for being the celebrity world’s hottest cougar and dating a 24-year-old, but Jennifer Lopez still has her priorities straight when it comes to motherhood and raising her kids.

The newly single mom recently opened up to Vogue Magazine to talk about how she disciplines her twins, Max and Emme, the pressures of motherhood and how her new beau, Casper Smart, mixes in with everything. Here are some highlights:

On motherhood: “They do something to you where you want to do everything right for them. And obviously no parent does everything right. It’s this weird thing that happens where you are striving to be as good as you can be so that they turn out well. And that requires that you be a really great, evolved, aware person in every moment. Which is pretty awesome. But it’s also putting tremendous pressure on yourself—which is why women feel so guilty!”

On disciplining the twins: “By nature I am not tough, believe it or not. No. I am a lover. And with my kids I am even softer. I realize with my son, I have to sometimes be tough, especially now when he’s pushing boundaries. With my daughter, I can get a little stern with her and she pretty much will listen. But my son will just scream and yell and run. I’m like, Aaaaah, what do I do with this?!”

On her new beau Casper Smart: “He’s adorable. But you already see that. He is [sweet]. He really is. He’s a good egg. I don’t want to talk about it too much. It’s my private thing.”

While Jen looks gorgeous on the cover, I can’t help but feel that we’ve seen this before. Remember Angelina Jolie’s cover and in a red dress? And Jennifer Aniston? Yep, it seems like a running theme for the art directors over at Vogue! What do you think?

Jennifer Lopez Talks Marc Anthony: We’re Friends

While Jennifer Lopez is posing on the cover of V magazine with boxing gloves, she in no way hopes to inflict those gloves on her ex-husband Marc Anthony.

“I mean, we’re parents and friends first,” the divorced megastar says of Marc. “That will be the thread that ties us together. I don’t know if people expect it to be negative just because the relationship didn’t work out.”
