Jennifer Hudson Is A Lucky Mom

It seems like all of the celebrity moms are cover girls this month, right? Jennifer Hudson graces the cover of Lucky Magazine, where inside she talks about how her son is her little personal stylist, how she stays in shape and gives us a little preview of her upcoming clothing line. Here are some highlights of what she says:

On her son’s fashion advice: “We call him Boss Baby! He says, ‘Mommy, I don’t like that,’ or ‘Momma, you look very pretty.’ I totally dress for my child! I have T-shirts with Popeye the Sailor Man on it, ones with different animals, comic book characters.”

On staying in shape: “I have chocolate every day. Going jogging makes me feel powerful and free—like Rocky! In winter I do the treadmill, the Stairmaster. I always say to myself: ‘Just give me 10 minutes.’ If I do those 10 minutes—the next thing you know, it’s 20 minutes—I trick myself! My son, he wants pizza, so okay, I make him a Margherita pizza, and then he doesn’t eat it, so I have some, and then that’s eight points … that gets tricky.”

On her new clothing line, Jennifer Hudson Collection: “Being a celebrity, you sort of have to look—decent—when you go out, but you don’t necessarily want to be always dressed up, totally perfect. I have to be flexible, comfortable. I still can’t believe I have my own line. Us ladies, we don’t always get cute if we’re getting comfort. You want both. I hate when you see a guy and girl out together, and he’s walking along, feeling great, and she can’t walk in her heels and she’s freezing in her dress … ”

Jennifer Hudson Talks Closure, Weight Loss In New Redbook Magazine

There is no doubt that Jennifer Hudson has had a roller coaster of emotions going through her in the past few year. With the birth of her son, her weight-loss and of course the horrible murder of her family, the celebrity mom has done it and has has seen it all. The award-winning actress opens up to Redbook Magazine about her past few years and where she is now with her family. Here are some highlights of what she says:

How she honors her late nephew during the holidays:

The Julian D. King Toy Drive and Christmas dinner is for kids who are doing well in school – just progressing, they don’t nsecessarily have to have all A’s or B’s – and we grant whatever their Christmas wish is.  With everything that happened with our family, it’s hard to get through the holidays.  So I was wondering, “How can we turn a negative around make it a positive thing?  How can we be able to look forward to the holidays and the birthdays?”  And so we came up with giving back.

On feeling closure after the trial (Hudson’s former brother-in-law was recently found guilty of the 2008 murders of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew):

I mean, you can never fully get complete closure – whatever that means. Is there ever really a point of closure?  Do I feel healed?  No.

On losing more weight:

I’m at the weight I want to be.  But I hear all the time, “Don’t lose any more weight, you need to stop.”  People are under the impression that I’m still losing but I’m not.

On how she’s feeling after her weight loss transformation:

I’m getting used to my new self more than anything else.  I got used to being plus-sized and knowing how to be that, whereas this is like, “Okay, who am I?”  I keep thinking that I probably need an extra-large or a large and the stylist is like, “No, you need a medium or a small.”

Jennifer said of the late iconic singer: “She has been a huge part of my life musically. She’s just been like this outline, this blueprint for myself.”

The special tribute will air on November 13th on CBS.

Jennifer Hudson’s Son Might Follow In Her Footsteps

It looks like we might have a case of like mother like son here! Celebrity mom Jennifer Hudson reveals in a new interview with Parade Magazine that her 3-year-old son David might be following in her famous footsteps one day. Here are some highlights of what she says:

On whether her son is a budding entertainer.
“He’s growing up with a musical background and music is a huge part of our household. It’s a huge way I communicate with him. He didn’t want to go to bed the other day and wanted to sing for me. He tried to grab the mic stand and perform ‘Proud Mary’— not that knew all the words! But he got enough of it and did a good job. He really responds. When I perform, he’ll tell me if he thinks I did good.”

On the surprises of motherhood.
“It made me realize how much my mom loved me and how much patience it takes. I think of the things my mom did for me and so I have to do it for my son. Now that I have a child, I get it. I get the example she set. It’s not always easy but it’s for love. You realize how much you can love and how much you give up for your child as a parent. I’m learning that through him.”

Her wedding plans.
“My son won’t have it any other way: he’ll definitely be a part of it. Maybe he’ll even sing!”
