J.R. Martinez Says His Daughter Has Tamed His Workaholic Ways

Former Dancing with the Stars contestant J.R. Martinez and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones welcomed their baby girl Anabelle six months ago.  The doting dad says that his new bundle of joy has helped him slow down his workaholic ways.

The new dad shares, “Before it was work, work, work and now [being a father has] given me a little bit of balance. It’s never been an issue for me to pick up my stuff and hit the road for two weeks at a time.  [But now,] having to still work and get in the car and be away from her is the hardest.”

J.R. says he hopes to expand his family even more – hopefully with a baby boy.  “It’d be nice to balance it out since we have a girl. Right now the girl has got me wrapped [around] her finger so it might be nice to have a boy so Diana can be wrapped around his finger.”

Aww, it sounds like fatherhood is going very well for J.R.!

J.R. Martinez Is A New Dad!

There’s no doubt that Dancing With The Stars champ J. R. Martinez is having the best year of his life! His wife, Diana Gonzalez-Jones, just gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Lauryn Anabelle in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon.

According to People Magazine, the newborn baby girl, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 13 oz. and is 21 inches long. Dad J.R. gushes, “She has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips.”

Congratulations to the new parents!

J.R. Martinez Is Almost Ready For Baby!

Former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant J.R. Martinez and his fiance Diana Gonzalez-Jones are expecting their first baby any day now.  The proud father-to-be says the final preparations are being made.

“Baby is around the corner. We’re getting diaper bags ready to go to the hospital, it’s that intense. [We're finishing] the nursery’s final touches. It’s really amazing to see how everything is coming together.”

He shared that his mom gave him some good advice about the pending arrival:

“As my mom told me when I was a kid, ‘You’ll never know what a love of a parent is until you actually have a [baby]‘.  So now she’s saying, ‘Get ready. Get ready for that love to just intensify and go to a whole other level.’”

J.R. Martinez Won’t Pick Silly Celebrity Names For New Baby

While many celebrities opt for strange and outlandish names for their babies, J.R. Martinez is hoping to go another route for his unborn daughter.

“We won’t name her Apple Cider or Salami,” the Dancing with the Stars champ told PEOPLE. “It won’t be our favorite dish or our favorite getaway or favorite car or show.”

“It will be something really close and personal to us that feels like we’re giving something to her that is very special,” he says.

Parents-to-be J.R. Martinez and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones stepped onto the red carpet last night, beaming from ear to ear. Diana showed off her growing baby bump in a beautiful red gown for the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

J.R. and Diana are expecting a baby girl together this spring!

How J.R. Martinez Kept His Girlfriend’s Pregnancy A Secret

Even though Dancing With the Stars champ J.R. Martinez knew his girlfriend was pregnant since September, he kept it under wraps until now.

“I kept it under wraps and focused on my dancing,” he said.

“[But] even when I was dancing, I still made time to go to her doctor appointments with her,” he said. “I would tell Karina, ‘Hey I need to push rehearsal back an hour…’ I was so focused mentally, emotionally, on Dancing with the Stars, and then I was also processing, ‘Whoa, I’m going to be a dad!” That’s a lot of information to process at one time!”
