Nicole Richie Talks Reality TV, Kids, And Career With Glamour Magazine

Celebrity mom and ‘Fashion Star’ mentor Nicole Richie shared with the June issue of Glamour some of her thoughts on career, kids, and her husband Joel Madden’s bursts of random talkativeness.

On wanting to be a hair stylist:

NICOLE RICHIE: I have naturally curly hair, so “natural” beach waves are not so natural for me. I like to braid my hair at night and then let it out the next day. And I also curl my hair with a flatiron. I actually think I’m the best hairstylist on the planet.  I’m very serious. I’m mixed, and it’s work to do my hair,
so I learned how to do it well myself. I would be a hairstylist. I actually like to go to the salon and blow out people’s hair.

GLAMOUR: Joel once tweeted, “What’s your favorite app?” And you replied, “The How to Make Your Husband Go Out So You Can Watch Reality TV in Peace app.” Hilarious.

Nicole Richie: You know, Joel barely speaks all day, and then out of nowhere he has 9 million things to say, only for 30 minutes, from 9:00 to 9:30 P.M., when I’m watching Real Housewives.

GLAMOUR: You went through a period where you were super thin and everyone was commenting on it. Now you have two kids and look awesome. How do you feel about your body?

NR: I feel [gets all fake dramatic]…great about my body. [Laughs.] You know, aesthetically I can be picky, but I choose not to. I’ve taken huge leaps. I’m proud of that. I work out, and I get lots of sleep, and so I feel great. And that is most important.

GLAMOUR: Now you’ve got the Nicole Richie Collection on QVC. Any advice for women starting their own business?

NR: Study your craft. Know it well before you jump in. I wait all the time. Because I don’t want to just put my name on something and then release it. What’s the point of that?

GLAMOUR: What’s your absolute favorite moment in every day?

NR: When I wake up at 5:30 A.M. and it’s still dark out. I love, love being alone. It helps me to be a better mom to my kids and a better person at work.

Kim Kardashian: I Feel Like Maybe I’m Not Supposed To Have Kids

When the Kardashian sisters sat down to talk to Glamour magazine, Kim opened up about her feelings on love, marriage, and kids after her divorce from Kris Humphries.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

Kim: …I think I’ll always be a hopeless romantic.

GLAMOUR: What do you mean by that?

Kim: It means that I believe in love and the dream of having a perfect relationship, but my idea of it has changed. I think I need to not live in a fairy tale like that. I think I maybe need to just snap out of it and be a little more realistic.

Khloé: I love Kim’s belief in love and the fact that she feels so strongly about it. She has that dream every girl has.

Kim: Well, I don’t think I have it right now.

Khloé: Which is fine, but I’m your sister and I know why you don’t have it right now. But I know you will get it again.

Kim: I hope I do. But by then I hope maybe I’m a little bit more realistic.

GLAMOUR: Realistic about what?

Kim: The fact that what I want isn’t possible.

Khloé: What, a guy on a white horse coming to get you? That doesn’t happen!

Kim: I don’t know. I always wanted what Mom and Dad had. And at first I was like, I want six kids. Then I went down to four, then I was down to three.and now I’m like, maybe I won’t have any. Maybe I’ll just be a good aunt.

Khloé: But Mom and Dad got a divorce, and she met Bruce. And you were a child; you don’t know what Mom and Dad had. As an outsider looking in, it probably looked like paradise.

Kim: At this moment in my life, I feel like maybe I’m not supposed to have kids and all that.

Khloé: Oh my God. Don’t be dramatic all of a sudden!

Kim: That’s how I feel. Maybe my fairy tale has a different ending than I dreamed it would. But that’s OK.

Glamour Magazine Names Jennifer Lopez ‘Woman Of The Year’

Celebrity mom Jennifer Lopez graces the December cover of Glamour magazine and is bestowed with the honor of being named ‘Woman of the Year’ for 2011.  Inside she talks a bit about her style and the possibility of new love.

On the possibility of a new relationship out of the public eye:
“I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye. You know the media—they want to rush everything.”

On her style:
“The things I liked when I was, like, 16 and in the Bronx—jeans, cut-up T-shirts—I still like. But I’ve been exposed to so much now from traveling the world and seeing couture clothes. I used all of that when I created my new line for Kohl’s. My style has come from everything, from where I started to where I am today.”

On what she’s learned about love and relationships:
“I think I’ve finally learned the biggest lesson of all. You’ve got to love yourself first. You’ve got to be OK on your own before you can be OK with somebody else. You’ve got to value yourself and know that you’re worth everything. And until you value yourself enough and love yourself enough to know that, you can’t really have a healthy relationship.”

For the full interview, you can grab a copy on the stands November 8th.
