Catherine Zeta-Jones On Telling Michael Douglas, "I cannot live without having children."

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has been winning audiences over since her sexy role in 1998’s The Mask of Zorro. Now a married mom of two, Catherine talked to Parade about balancing her career with family, and the one thing that could have ended her relationship with actor Michael Douglas. Read excerpts below:

On the importance having children had in her early relationship with Michael:
“…There was one thing I had to be sure of. I turned to Michael and said, ‘Do you really want children?’ And I thought, for one minute, he was going to say, ‘I already have a son, Cameron, and I would have to say goodbye. I remember saying defiantly, ‘I cannot live without having children.’ And he went, ‘Me too.'”

On why she’s not a screamer:
“Michael and I have been married seven years. I’ve known him nine years. We’ve never screamed at each other. We disagree, yeah, but we never shout…I did the screaming thing before. It doesn’t work. I’ve realized hat you can actually say what you need to say. People can tell from the tone of my voice. And my kids know when I raise my finger or do ‘the eyes’ that I mean it.”

On not living in Hollywood:
“I’ve been told that it’s not good for business, but at the end of the day, I’d sacrifice career so my children can go to school without the paparazzi pestering them.”

On how her career has changed:
“When I first came to the States, it was like I’d do anything. I had not a ruthless but a nice kind of ambition….At this point in my life, I actually have a life. If I’m going to do a film, it’s got to mean something to my heart.”

She rocks!

Catherine Zeta-Jones At The 32nd America's Cup In Valencia & Her Baby Wish!

Just cause I love Catherine I’ve put more pics of her in Valencia above, and rumor has it that she has a baby wish!

The Welsh actress is said to be keen on having a third child with Michael, and likes the idea of the couple’s two children – six-year-old son, Dylan, and four-year-old daughter, Carys – having another brother or sister.

A friend of Catherine’s told Grazia magazine, “She has started talking about how wonderful it would be to have another baby. She and Michael have agreed to just relax and see what happens. They do want to have another baby, but even more than that, they want to focus on spending time together and with their family.”

Catherine, 37, has previously said she didn’t want to add to her family, but has seemingly warmed to the idea as Carys has grown up.

Last year, Michael, 62, insisted he did not want anymore children.

He said at the time, “We are enjoying our two children, and we want to keep it that way. I’m happy.”

Hmmm…..we’ll see!

And here is a pic of the luminous mother-of-two in InStyle!

Catherine Zeta-Jones Says There's Nothing Worse Than Spoiled Rich Kids

Catherine Zeta-Jones
She has beauty, a loving family, a luxurious lifestyle – not to mention an Oscar – but Catherine Zeta-Jones still has moments of self-doubt.

“I’m more insecure than I ever let anyone know,” Catherine, 37, tells InStyle in its July issue.

The actress, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Chicago in 2003, admits: “Sometimes you protect yourself with this kind of armor that people see more than they see you.”

And although she and husband Michael Douglas have homes in, among other places, Bermuda and Majorca, Spain, she’s determined that their kids Dylan, 6, and Carys, 4, are modest and well-behaved.

“We believe in good manners,” she says. “There’s nothing worse than spoiled rich kids.”

Though Dylan and Carys attend school in Bermuda, they wear traditional British uniforms and make yearly visits to Catherine’s native Wales, which she wants her children to be proud of. “They can sing ‘Jingle Bells’ in Welsh!” she tells InStyle.

As for her career, Catherine, who stars in the upcoming comedy No Reservations, says she’s reached a balance between work and her personal life – but always puts family first.

“Years ago if someone said they were doing a movie in Romania, I was, like, ‘What time is my flight?’ ” she says. “I couldn’t see beyond the script. Now, I’m like, ‘Script? I’ll figure that out after dealing with the people I love more than anything in the world.’ ”

It’s so wonderful to finally be seeing more of Catherine! I can’t wait to get that InStyle!
