Britney Spears’ sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston, are growing up way too quickly as both are celebrating a birthday this week.
Jayden turned 5 on Monday (Sept. 12) and Sean will turn 6-year-old on Wednesday (Sept. 14). The boys’ father is Spears‘ ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Britney says Jayden and Sean Preston don’t really grasp their mom’s status as a superstar. “They’re really confused with ‘mommy the star’ and mommy,” Spears told Entertainment Tonight in June. ”[When they see me on stage] they’re like, ‘Is that Britney Spears or is that you, Mommy?’”
Britney Spears has defined this generation of pop music and taken music in a direction it wouldn’t be today if it weren’t for her. And in celebration of this realization, MTV put together a tribute and an award, the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, for Britney at last night’s (Aug. 28) ceremony.
Britney Spears thinks she has the experience necessary to steer her boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James, through the pitfalls and mistakes that come with being in the limelight – if they ever wish to be an entertainer like their mom!
Spears says she’d let her boys enter the industry as long as she could be their manager. “I’d definitely keep an eye on them, but if that’s what they wanted to do then I’d let them go after it. I’d just be very protective,” Britney, 29, tells PopJustice.com.
“I’d just have to trust that they have the instincts to know what’s right and wrong and help guide them along the way,” she says. “I think I have the experience.”
Could you imagine a world where Britney Spears wasn’t famous? Neither could we.
But the pop star is letting it be known that if she weren’t famous, she’d want to be a teacher!
“I’d probably be a teacher,” she tells this site. “I love kids, and even in what I do now one of my favorite parts of my day is getting to meet my fans before the show. Especially the little ones. They are always so cute.”
As far as raising sons, Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4, is concerned, Spears says they are her top priority. “I’m very strong in the way I raise my kids and stuff,” she says. “So [even if I weren't famous] it would probably be pretty much the same.”
And what is Sean and Jayden want to be pop stars as well? ”I’d definitely keep an eye on them, but if that’s what they wanted to do then I’d let them go after it,” she says. “I’d just be very protective.”
“I wouldn’t want them to go into it feeling fearful, and also nobody can really prepare you for this industry and what you experience,” she says. “So I’d just have to trust that they have the instincts to know what’s right and wrong and help guide them along the way. I think I have the experience.”
Kevin Federline and Victoria Prince are happily awaiting the arrival of their first child together, Federline’s fifth. But their due date, August 8, has already come and gone.
The two expectant parents headed to a matinee of The Change Up at a local theater in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 8). I’m sure they picked a seat close to the emergency exit – just in case!
