Blythe Danner Gushes About Son-In-Law Chris Martin And Her Grandkids

Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom, actress Blythe Danner, gushed about her son-in-law, Chris Martin’s, fathering abilities. And says that he’s opened her up to a new appreciation for music.

“Oh, Chris is wonderful and he’s so good with their children and he’s taught them those good English manners”

Blythe says her late husband, Bruce Paltrow, would’ve loved Chris:

“I think he met Gwyneth about a week after Bruce died. He would have loved him.”

“He wrote the song ‘Fix You’ for Gwyneth when her father died and I weep every time I hear it”.

Blythe admits that she’s now a big fan of Coldplay’s music:

“I’m mostly a jazz fan and I’ve never really been into rock ‘n’ roll music — although I guess Coldplay isn’t really rock ‘n’ roll — but he’s made me a convert.  I do go to their concerts whenever we’re in the same town and I don’t even have to wear earplugs any more, which I did in the beginning.”

She says Gwyneth’s kids are very into music, just like their parents:

“They’re much more into Glee because Gwynnie’s been on the show.  Mosey is very musical and he sings a lot of the songs from Glee.”

Apple & Moses Martin Have A Unique Nickname For Grandmother Blythe Danner

When it comes to Apple and Moses Martin, they have a unique nickname for their grandmother Blythe Danner.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Danner reveals the nickname given to her by Apple that’s seemed to stick for the past 7 years.

“They call me ‘Lalo,’ (lah-lo),” Danner tells Kit Hoover and guest co-host Arsenio Hall. “Apple actually named me that. I had all these names picked out,” the actress recalls. “I love dogs, so I was going to have them call me ‘Woof.’ That didn’t take.”

So why Lalo? “I was sitting there, she was there in her high chair – she could barely talk,” says Blythe. “And I said, ‘Who am I? Am I Woof?’ And she went, ‘No. No, no.’ And I came up with a few other names, and I said, ‘Well, who am I?’ And she said, ‘Lalo.’ And then she laughed for about a minute – hysterically – and an hour later, I was still Lalo.”

Mom Blythe Danner Is Worried About Multi-tasking Daughter Gwyneth Paltrow

Veteran actress Blythe Danner has warned her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow to “take care” of herself, because she worries the Oscar winner is taking on too many projects.

Paltrow juggles her acting career with her duties as a wife and mom-of-two and she also runs a lifestyle website.  Now, thanks to her performances in movie Country Strong and on TV show Glee, Paltrow has also become hot property in the music world.

Her impressive performance of Cee Lo Green’s Forget You has reportedly landed her stage time with the soul singer at the upcoming Grammy Awards.  But worried Danner fears Paltrow is taking on too much.
Danner tells,

“She’s a multi-tasker. We had dinner last night and I said, ‘Honey, please, it’s great that you multi-task, but it’s a lot of stress to do that, and I want you to take care of yourself. You’ve just got to.'”

Blythe Danner Impressed With Gwyenth Paltrow’s Parenting Skills

Actress Blythe Danner has heaped praise on her daughter Gwyneth Paltrow’s parenting skills, insisting she’s a much better mom than she was.

The Meet The Parents star tells WENN her daughter is an “extraordinary” mother with two “very wise little ones”.
She says,

“She’s a much more patient mother than I was. When she had children she was just completely devoted to that and listens to them and talks to them.

“They never have temper tantrums because she knows how to sweep them aside and talk to them and they listen. She’s very rational and I just admire it. I just don’t know how she does it really. It just puts me to shame that I wasn’t better at it.

“They’re very wise little ones. I’ve been trying to sell an apartment that I have in California and little Moses, who was three at the time, said, ‘Lalo, do you have three houses?’ He was thinking of the New York apartment and I was building a little solar thermal house because I’ve been involved with the environment longer than Gwyneth’s alive, and I said, ‘Well, I guess I do Mosey,’ and he said, ‘I know you don’t need three houses, do you Lalo?’ It was just wild!”
