Billy Ray Cyrus Just Wants Daughter Miley To Be Happy

Like most dads, Billy Ray Cyrus wants to be sure that his kids are happy.  He shared that as long as daughter Miley Cyrus is happy and doing what she loves, then he’s happy.

“We’ve always had a slogan in our family: ‘If you ain’t happy, it ain’t working.’  You need to love what you’re doing.”

“As long as she’s happy and loving making music – and I know she loves acting – that’s all that matters,”

He shares his advice for aspiring musicians:

“Keep it real. Be who you are and do what you do because you love it. Nothing else in this business is worth it. Don’t be chasing fads or trying to necessarily be the guy that’s trying to fit in with everybody else.”

“It’s important to stay focused on where you want to go, what you’re all about and what you want to do with your work.”

Billy Ray Cyrus Thinks He Could Have Been A Better Dad

Billy Ray Cyrus opened on ‘Good Morning America’ about fatherhood and his ‘dark days’.  Billy Ray admits that he hasn’t been a perfect parent:

“I did kind of approach being a dad as a friend. I was a great playmate. I mean, for teaching [my children] how to camp and build fires and ride motorcycles and four-wheelers, and horses, and all those fun kind of things. I was really good at that.

As far as sitting down and doing algebra and science, the homework, I wasn’t very good at that. So I look back on it and think, ‘You know what? Maybe, no doubt, I could have been a better dad.’ “

He also shares that he’s sorry for the harsh words he had for the ‘Hannah Montana’ show in a recent magazine interview:

“I love Hannah Montana. I love Disney. I wouldn’t change anything,”

What I meant to say, and what I hope I said was … fame can be a dangerous animal. And it’s a delicate thing. You know, when you get in this industry and … you strike so hard for that moment. But, fame is dangerous.

Miley Cyrus Calls Off Divorce, Gets His Family Back

Country star Billy Ray Cyrus has called off his divorce and reunited with his wife Tish.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer filed legal papers to end the 17-year union in October (10) and he has since blamed the success of his daughter Miley’s Disney show Hannah Montana for “destroying” his family.  But Cyrus has been working hard to repair the family fall-out since his GQ magazine comments caused a tabloid storm – and he now reveals things are back on track with his wife and his kids.  In an appearance on The View, due to air on Friday (3/18), the 49 year old says,

“I’ve dropped the divorce. I want to put my family back together! Things are the best they’ve ever been.”

And the singer insists he’s also made amends with his superstar daughter Miley Cyrus, after lashing out at her for a string of scandals surrounding her personal life – including gossip about her love interests and outrage over video footage showing her smoking a bong. He adds,

“I feel like I got my Miley back. I feel like we’re the daddy and daughter we were before Hannah Montana.”

Billy Ray Cyrus: ‘I Need To Mend My Family’

Billy Ray Cyrus is trying his best to “mend” his relationship with his family after recently blaming fame for “destroying” their bond.

The country singer hit the headlines after revealing in an interview he was “scared” for his superstar daughter Miley following her rise to fame in the hit series Hannah Montana and a string of scandals.
He told GQ magazine,

“The damn show destroyed my family… I hate to say it, but yes, I do (wish the show hadn’t happened). I’d take it back in a second… I’m scared for her (Miley). She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger.”

Cyrus now admits his comments were “explosive, and unintentionally so,” and plans to focus on healing rifts with his loved ones.  He tells People.com,

“It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now. My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier.

“It is all a learning process, and we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues.”

The Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker filed for divorce from his wife Tish in October (10), but the couple has recently been spotted spending time together in Los Angeles with their youngest daughter Noah, 11.
