Veteran rocker Adam Ant has offered his services as a youth adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron insisting he wants deprived kids to watch Disney movies and listen to artists like Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.
The troubled singer, real name Stuart Goddard, is keen to work with young people from impoverished backgrounds in London’s tough East End and has called for the city’s Mayor Boris Johnson and leader Cameron to bring him on-board to help.
And the Prince Charming hitmaker’s first act would be to ensure rowdy teenagers watch Disney’s light-hearted robot adventure Wall.E. He tells Britain’s The Sun,
“I’d like to help the Mayor and Prime Minister. I’d like to advise them on the kids out there who are getting a raw deal, you know? “If I had my way, I would make everyone watch Wall.E. I would have all the kids out on the street, running around, howling, kicking each other. I would be quite happy to go into tough areas in the East End where they are shooting and knifing people and play them a few things to reach out to them.”
Meanwhile, the star – who was reportedly sectioned in May (10), just a week after he performed a shambolic, expletive-strewn show at a church in south England – is adamant Britain’s troubled youngsters need an icon like the late Michael Jackson to look up to. He adds,
“I have a track by a band called When I Was A Sperm – it’s a hard record, it’s an urban record. The kids need someone to come to them who they can respect, who can dance a bit.
“I mean, I knew Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. These are people who they respect.”
