Kate Winslet And Joe Grab A Taxi

Actress Kate Winslet picked up her son Joe, 7, after school yesterday.  The two hailed a cab and headed back home.   He is a handsome fella, isn’t he?  She certainly made some cute kiddos.

Kate was recently announced as the face of St. John, replacing Angelina Jolie.

Motherhood Leaves No Time For Kate Winslet

Since Kate Winslet devotes all her time to her children – Mia (10) and Joe (7) – she has little time for herself.

She even jokes she forgot how to “sit down.”

“Any mother knows the last person you think about is yourself. I’ve been a mother for 10 years and I’m still trying to figure out how to give time to myself without feeling guilty about it,” she said.

“Sometimes I’ll sit down and I’ll go, ‘Oh it’s just nice to sit down,’ because truly, I’ve forgotten how to do that.

“You forget to sit down and not worry about what needs to be done for the kids, just take time for yourself and pick up a book or read a recipe. I tell myself ‘Just … Sit … Down’ it’s a challenge.”

Kate Winslet: ‘I Am Happy Without A Man’

Kate Winslet has spoken for the first time about her split from Sam Mendes, calling her single status “empowering” and insisting she is not “lonely”.

The actress announced the end of her relationship with the filmmaker, her second husband, last March (10) after nearly seven years of wedlock.  Winslet, who was linked to male model Louis Dowler after the separation, has now broken her silence about the breakdown of her marriage to Mendes, revealing she is embracing life as a single mom-of-two.  She tells Vogue magazine,

“(It’s an) empowering thing… Experiencing those moments of being alone… is a very, very weird flooring and exposing position to be in when you’re just not used to it. And it’s not just being in a relationship. It’s also the fact that I grew up in a family full of people. I’ve never been lonely. And with (kids) Mia and Joe that remains the case.

“But to be in this place now where I can say I really like this space. I really need to not have anyone around. It’s a surprise to discover that I like being on my own.”

Winslet was previously married to Jim Threapleton, her daughter Mia’s dad, but they divorced in 2001.

Kate Winslet Is Raising Her Kids To Be Good People

In the new issue of Glamour, actress Kate Winslet shares the most important qualities she’s trying to instill in her children, Mia, 10, and Joe, 7.

“I always want them to be regular kids who are grateful and respectful of other human beings. I want them to know that when we fly first-class, that they are lucky.”

“The highest compliment I could ever receive about my kids — and I can say that this does happen frequently — is when the in-flight crew say to me, ‘Your children are wonderful. They are so well-behaved.’ Every time I am told that, I could weep.”

She also explains why she doesn’t open up about what caused the split with ex-husband Sam Mendes:

“I am nervous about the day that Mia can Google [my name]. That’s the reason I am so careful not to talk about the question that people always ask of me: ‘So what actually happened between you and Sam?’ That explanation will never come out of my mouth. Never.”

“When my children want to know what actually happened, I want to be the first person they have that conversation with. I don’t want them to read something and believe it, when it probably isn’t true anyway.”
