Take Bic’s “Fight For Your Write” Pledge To Save Handwriting #BICFightForYourWrite

Bic 30th Natalie Collage

BIC® Mechanical Pencils have been helping kids reach their potential for over 30 years and we want to celebrate, baby! Our family LOVES to write with pencils (I think you know why), and what better pencil is there than a Bic Mechanical Pencil!Join us this year as we celebrate 30 years of success!

Why does our family love these pencils more than anything else. How about that they are just so easy-to-use. Maybe because it’s super neat and clean…no sawdust here! Perhaps most importan, I really think that when you write something down, it makes a bigger impact on a person and their brains then just reading alone or typing on a keyboard. There’s just something to it, it’s always been, and will hopefully always be. Because when kids write, things click!

It’s because of my love and belief in writing, even in our tech-filled age, that I’m asking you to join the BIC Fight For Your Write mission to save handwriting by writing with BIC Mechanical Pencils! It’s so easy…just visit BICFightForYourWrite.com and sign the pledge to save handwriting*, then share the badge to tell your friends to do the same to support the cause! You can WIN a $1,200 BIC Prize Pack to help them write more at home!!!

So far, there’s more than 68K pledges…hello!!!

Here’s a little bit about the mission and why it’s just so important:

Join BIC on our mission to save handwriting and Fight For Your Write. Writing is an important vehicle for communication because it distinguishes us and promotes individuality. Did you know that writing is also a critical learning tool for children? Writing helps kids become better readers, boosts their confidence and sparks their creativity. Together we want to show children just how great writing can be… and how great they can be!

  • Improves Cognitive Development
  • Builds Self-Confidence
  • Betters School Performance
  • Helps Reading Skills
  • Sparks Creativity
  • Sharpens Critical Thinking Skills

I know that for my family, it’s pretty simple. We all retain everything so much better when we write it down. It also inspires us to do more and be more creative, too! I mean, handwriting engages 14 different abilities! What else can you think of that does that? Take a look:

Ideas for a Great Family Vacation – Especially NYC – From Hipmunk

Screen Shot 2015-08-01 at 10.17.53 AM

It’s summer, baby! Time to have some fun in the sun. Take some time off. Relax and enjoy yourself and your family. It’s also usually time for a family vacation!! If you have been racking your brain trying to come up with an idea of a fun place to take your family on vacation, you’re not alone. There’s a lot of options out there. Almost too many (a nice problem to have, I guess). The world is certainly filled with very memorable destinations that are wonderful for children and adults alike. The key is to select a place that both fits within your budget and provides you with activities that will adequately entertain you and your family for the duration of your trip. Here are just a few ideas for a nice family vacation.

1. Yellowstone National Park

Taking your family out into beautiful nature is always a great way to spend leisure time with them. There are few more beautiful and scenic places on this planet than Yellowstone National Park. Seeing the famous Old Faithful geyser erupt with your own eyes is truly something to behold. There are many things to see and do while you are at Yellowstone. However, you need to be in good shape because you will be doing a lot of walking. It is important to understand the dangers that are present in Yellowstone. You must always be aware of your surroundings and never allow your children to wander off by themselves.

2. The Grand Canyon

You have no doubt seen many photos of the Grand Canyon, not to mention seeing it on TV. However, this can’t compare with the wonder of taking in this breathtaking sight with your own eyes. It took millions of years to create this magical place, so you should definitely let your family have the experience of seeing it in person. You can also journey to the bottom of the canyon and do some white water rafting. The sheer beauty of the Grand Canyon will make this a family vacation they will remember for the rest of their lives.

3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

While Myrtle Beach does not have as many activities for families as some of the other top destinations, it is still an excellent value when you consider the fact that it costs much less that many places. This is the perfect place to take your family if you want to enjoy some fun in the sun, but you are on a tight budget. There are plenty of reasonably priced accommodations in the area, so you can show your family a good time without going broke while you do it.

4. New York City

New York City has become a real tourist hot spot. It’s super safe and really cleaned up, it’s nothing like the bad ol’ days. There’s just so much to do and see, it’ll make your head spin. The buildings, the shopping, the museums, and Central Park. Go to the top of the new World Trade Center or take the free ferry to Staten Island and see the city from the water. The lights and crowds of Times Square always amaze. Go on the subway or hail and taxi…but my favorite is to just walk the streets. Always busy, alays something going on. SoHo, Greenwich Village, and the Lower East Side as all low-rise areas full of history. Check out Wall St. and Battery Park to see some amazing green space, the NY Stock Exchange, and so much more. Midtown has Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral and leads right into the super chic Upper East Side with Madison Ave and Fifth Ave always impressing!

If you are contemplating a trip to New York City with your family, it would be a good idea to take a look at Hipmunk‘s travel guide for NYC before you go!!
