This morning Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice pled guilty to fraud charges in a federal courtroom in Newark, New Jersey. The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars had been planning to fight the charges, but reached a plea deal with prosecutors and as part of that deal, they’re agree to plead guilty. The couple will be sentenced on July 8th, with Teresa reportedly agreeing to serve less than two years and Joe approximately four years, according to reports.
Teresa released a statement this afternoon that addresses the court case and her heartache for her four daughters, Gia, Gabriella, Milania and Audriana. Teresa shared: “Today, I took responsibility for a series of mistakes I made several years ago. I have said throughout that I respect the legal process and thus I intend to address the Court directly at sentencing. I will describe the choices I made, continue to take responsibility for my decisions, and express my remorse to Judge Salas and the public. I am heartbroken that this is affecting my family—especially my four young daughters, who mean more to me than anything in the world. Beyond this, I do not intend to speak specifically about the case outside of court, at the recommendation of my attorney and out of deference to the Government and our legal system.”
The Giudices will most likely be spending time making arrangements for their girls over the net few months. The judge will give the final word on how much prison time the two will serve.
