Nick Cannon was raised by his grandmother, who was considered “low income”, but says she’d do anything to help others. He’s hoping to instill that trait in his own children, twins Moroccan and Monroe (aka Dem Babies). He shared:
“I want my kids to understand that every child isn’t as fortunate as they are. I want [them] to grow up helping others. I was raised by my grandmother. We were low-income, but she was always taking in foster kids. She would help anyone, and it was a good lesson for me growing up.”
I can only imagine how much more difficult it is to teach children of privilege about what it’s like to be poor or to go without since it’s something so out of the “norm” for them and they may have trouble relating to it. I applaud Nick and Mariah for making sure to help their son and daughter to do good in the world.
