‘RHONJ’ Kathy Wakile Gives Child-Proof Holiday Decorating Tips

When it comes to decorating for the holidays, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Kathy Wakile has all the tips and trick to keeping your children safe and out of harm’s way!

Kathy’s tips:

1. Place breakables up higher. “Certain things, put them up higher if you’re afraid,” she says. “Put your more delicate ornaments, figurines, decorative items up higher where kids can’t get at them.”

2. Distract kids. “We used to always have a big train set at the bottom of the tree and a nativity and snow village every year and the kids would just enjoy putting the train on,” she shares. “That would distract them from touching anything. They were in control of the train. That was more fun to them — something that was moving that they didn’t need to touch. On-and-off switch, blow the horn, stuff like that.”

Living Christmas trees are fun but I have a warning for you if you do choose to get a real tree: My aunt had her house burn down because the tree caught fire! She gave a child a candle to hold and she got busy doing something else, next thing she knows the front room is ablaze because the child had lit the Christmas tree on fire.
Keep fire AWAY from real Christmas trees, especially when they are dry!
