Celebrity Baby Birthday: David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie

David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie, son of singer Madonna and director Guy Ritchie, turns 6 years old today!

David was adopted by Madonna and Guy in 2006, with the adoption being final in 2008.  It raised some public reaction because normally Malawian law required parents to live in Malawi for at least one year before being allowed to adopt – which Madonna and Guy hadn’t done.  Madonna said that there were no written adoption laws in Malawi that regulated foreign adoption. She also shared that he had been suffering from pneumonia after surviving malaria and tuberculosis when she first met him.

David has several siblings – Lourdes, 14, Rocco, 11, Mercy James, 6, and new baby brother whose name hasn’t been shared yet.
