Kate Hudson Opens Up About Being A Young Mom

Expectant mom Kate Hudson, 32, chats about having her son Ryder when she was just 24 years old and not realizing at the time just how young she was.

“When I had Ryder, I didn’t feel young. I didn’t feel like I was having a baby young … [he was] my family’s first grandkid and to me it just felt normal.  As I started getting older, as he started getting older and I was 28, 29, I was like, ‘Wow. I’m a young mom.’ It started hitting me. Now I have a little boy who is just his own person … the baby is really starting to go away and now I’m like, ‘I really was a young mom.’ I’m so happy that I had a child so young. He is my buddy.”

She says that turning 30 was exciting:

Thirty to me was exciting. But then again, I went into 30 having a child and having been married. I have a lot of girlfriends who are in their thirties, haven’t been married and don’t have a kid, and it’s difficult for them because they really want a family. I think for most girls it’s kind of a weird time. I think 40 is a little bit of a bigger birthday for women.”
