“When I had Ryder, I didn’t feel young. I didn’t feel like I was having a baby young … [he was] my family’s first grandkid and to me it just felt normal. As I started getting older, as he started getting older and I was 28, 29, I was like, ‘Wow. I’m a young mom.’ It started hitting me. Now I have a little boy who is just his own person … the baby is really starting to go away and now I’m like, ‘I really was a young mom.’ I’m so happy that I had a child so young. He is my buddy.”
She says that turning 30 was exciting:
Thirty to me was exciting. But then again, I went into 30 having a child and having been married. I have a lot of girlfriends who are in their thirties, haven’t been married and don’t have a kid, and it’s difficult for them because they really want a family. I think for most girls it’s kind of a weird time. I think 40 is a little bit of a bigger birthday for women.”
