James McAvoy and his wife Anne-Marie Duff welcomed a son together last summer and the ‘Atonement’ actor shares that he’s been cutting back on accepting new roles to focus on his family.
“I think you get a little bit sick of it but there was a couple of years there where I was working a hell of a lot and to be honest with you, I wasn’t getting much time for my own private life. I wasn’t getting a lot of time to kind of balance the two. So I thought I had to kind of pay attention to that, to my family and to my friends and all of that.
I’m lucky in that way that I get the chance to do what I would like to do, but I also get the chance to kind of step back and maybe do one of two things a year and I don’t have to do five or six any more.”
James says that he is trying hard to just go with the flow and not analyze things too much when it comes to fatherhood:
“We’ll have to wait and see how fatherhood affects me as it goes on – I think you can only answer that in 18 years. I’m trying not to analyse things too much, I’m just trying kind of stay open.”
James is about to start work on “Wanted 2” and he has two movies that are finished and ready for release: “X-Men First Class” and “Arthur Christmas“.
