Actress Helena Bonham Carter looked forward to childbirth when she was pregnant with her son and daughter, because the epidurals she received put her in a calming, “blissed-out” state.
The Alice In Wonderland star and her partner Tim Burton welcomed Billy in 2003 and girl Nell in 2007.
And the British actress insists the experience of going into labor was made so enjoyable by the painkillers, she would happily give birth to a baby “every day”. She says,
“I would love to have a baby every day. I’m just talking about childbirth. I love childbirth, I did. It’s so underrated!
“I think it was wonderful for me. It’s the only time I did drugs and that epidural is a drug. I could have one (a baby) every day. I wouldn’t look after them, but I could have them everyday!
“The epidural, I worship at the altar of the person who invented the drug, because you go from a life-transforming pain to just this blissed-out state. And it does have opium in it, did you know that? So that’s probably why I was so happy.
“Two times is actually not that bad… Billy and Nell, they’re amazing.”
Lucky her! I only hope I can be so lucky if and when I give birth someday. Anybody not have a good experience on epidural?
