In a rare interview set to air on 60 Minutes Sunday night, Eminem gives a small glimpse of his home life. One of the most interesting revelations is that he doesn’t allow swearing in his home. The father of three girls, Hailie, Alaina, and Whitney, shares:
Profanity around my house? No.
I’m a parent. I have daughters. I mean, how would I really sound, as a person … walking around my house [saying], ‘B****, pick this up,’ you know what I mean? … I don’t cuss.”
“I’m not saying there’s not glimpses of me in the music, [that] there’s not truth in … things that I say. But this is music, this is my art…”
I’m sure most parents don’t allow cussing in their home, especially around their children, but it was a little shocking to hear that Eminem, whose lyrics are profanity-laced, doesn’t swear at home. Good for him for keeping his work and home life separate. I also commend him for raising and adopting both his niece and his ex-wife’s daughter from another relationship and giving them a stable, loving home. I think that speaks volumes about his true character.
