Jennifer Garner Is Teaching Her Daughters Healthy Habits

Jennifer Garner is trying to make sure her girls (Violet, 4, and Seraphina, 1) grow up with exercising and eating right as part of their everyday lives. Jennifer says that in addition to her daughters seeing her work out on a regular basis, she incorporates healthy eating as much as she can.

My big thing with vegetables lately is, ‘How many colors are you going to eat tonight?’”  “Choose your colors.”

“I put them out when everybody is hungry, while I’m cooking and trying to get dinner on the table [because] I’m the worst at that,”  “The last ten minutes the kitchen goes to hell in a hand basket, [but] that’s when I try to have broccoli, sugar snap peas, peppers. My girls will eat red and yellow peppers. I’ll put all of that out and see what I can get down them.”

Do you have a hard time getting your kids to eat vegetables? Have you tried any of those recipes where you “sneak in” the veggies? Like that Deceptively Delicious book?

I love it! I write a blog based on exactly what you do – give kids veggies to snack on when they are hungry. And it works! Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic tips. With little kids I steam the vegetables and bring those with me to the playground as snacks. It’s a great way to get kids eating veggies every day. And it helps pacify end of the day meltdowns.
