Melissa Rycroft's Baby Joy: "It's Such A Blessing"

Melissa Rycroft is pregnant, the new issue of Us Weekly reports.

“It was a shock. We weren’t even trying,” said Melissa. Melissa was publicly dumped on The Bachelor before rebounding with a triumphant turn on Dancing With the Stars. She married insurance agent Tye Strickland in December.

“It’s the most wonderful surprise in the world,” added Melissa, who is due in February. “It’s such a blessing.”

Melissa, 27, shared with Us Weekly that starting a family was the last thing on her mind: “He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No, not ready!'”

Though the news was a surprise, Melissa said that her relationship with Tye, 29, has helped her stay calm — and she can’t imagine having a child with anyone else.

“He’s actually cried more than I have,” she shared. “Tye is caring, he’s funny. He’s going to be a great dad.”

Melissa just bought a new home near Dallas with her husband. She divulged that she’s hoping for a boy, and he wants a girl. “We’re going to find out as soon as we can,” she said.

Melissa joked that she’s “eating everything in sight” and craving no-nos like sushi and sub sandwiches.

“Knowing me, I’m going to swell and gain 90 pounds,” she said. “But it’s not about me anymore!”

Just Saying, I think that sometimes pregnancy is a surprise no matter what. I was actually planning my first pregnancy and was completely shocked when I got pregnant right away. The doctor was telling me it could take up to a year.
So I was surprised and shocked that it happened right away. Maybe she meant something like that. And I don’t view it as irresponsible, it is certainly not like she is a teenager. She is a grown married woman.

Also, did anyone ever tell you that birth control is not 100% effective? If you didn’t know that, you may be in for quite a “surprise” yourself!

Umm, not using birth control (obviously) and subsequently becoming impregnated should NOT result in surprise and shock. These type of statements from newly-pregnant ‘celebrities’ is a bit irresponsible, don’t you think? Really, just how surprising could it be?

Do they have anything in common?

“He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No, not ready!’”

“He’s actually cried more than I have,”

She divulged that she’s hoping for a boy, and he wants a girl.

    Good Luck!!

Oh. So many celebrities are getting blessed by babies! Perfect timing my wife is also pregnant and she considers herself as one of the celebrities expecting a baby. LOL.
