Claudia Schiffer Names Her Newborn Daughter Cosima Violet

Claudia Schiffer has named her newborn daughter Cosima Violet, her rep announced on Tuesday.
Claudia, 39, and husband, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, welcomed Cosima on May 14th in London.
Little Cosima  joins big sister Clementine, 5½, and big brother Caspar, 7.
Claudia and Matthew wanted to wait until “the whole family met the newborn” before they announced her name to the world.
Cute name!
Cosima is a feminine given name, the feminine version of the name Cosmo. It is derived from the Greek word κοσμος or kosmos, meaning “order, decency.” Cosmo was a fourth century saint who was martyred with his brother Damian. They are the patron saints of medical doctors. Authors Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz commented in their 2007 book The Baby Names Bible that the name sounds exotic and is a fashionable name for the daughters of members of high society in the United Kingdom.

Monica Bellucci & Husband Welcome Their Second Daughter

(Monica was photographed for the March 2010 cover of Italian Vanity Fair while six-months-pregnant)

Monica Bellucci, 45, and her husband, Vincent Cassel, welcomed their second daughter, Léonie, on the evening of Friday, May 21 in Rome.
Both mother and daughter are doing “marvelously,” according to a member of the Monica’s entourage.
Léonie joins big sister, Deva, 5.
Monica said that she posed for the Vanity Fair cover to show that being a middle-aged mother is not a problem.
Monica told the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, “When I had my first child at 39 I was told that if I wanted another I should try straight away but I wasn’t ready. Eventually I decided that I was and I wanted one straight away but babies are not like movies and cannot be organized in a hurry. Women who have children late like me are always told how brave they are and it’s true that the older you are the more risks you run both for the child and yourself. But I don’t feel brave I just feel very lucky. I already have a healthy daughter who I gave birth to in Umbria (Italian region) like an ordinary farm wife. This second pregnancy is just as fantastic but I wouldn’t say I was an example to follow.”
Monica also shared that she had not used medical treatment to become pregnant.
Monica shared, “Maybe it’s because my paternal grandmother had a child at 47 years old but I think I’m just lucky. I know women who would cross the desert on their knees to have a child. Maybe if that had happened to me and I had difficulty then I would have become one of them. It’s a fact a lot of women wait until they are in their late 30s to have children. They have financial security, a home, a partner and then they think of children. You have to remember that women are now living on average until 85 years so there is plenty of time. To put it into perspective if you or I had been born at the beginning of the 19th century we would probably have been dead at 40. We may have been alive but we would have been in a terrible state and probably with no teeth. Things are different today and women in their 60s look fantastic. So now you can have a child in your 40s and look forward to watching them grow up.”
Monica also added that she was posing for Vanity Fair again to protest at Italy’s fertility laws which prevent the use of donor sperm.
Monica said, “Women are going abroad but only if they can afford it. It’s a political problem or rather an exploitation of religion by politics.
Monica also praised her husband, “He is helping. The more time passes by, the more I love the man he has become. When I met him, he was a 28-year-old boy. Now he’s a man with a great sense of responsibility who makes me feel good. Deva needs him as she needs me. I always think that if something happens to me, Vincent is gonna be with our daughters.
“A woman can say: I’ll have kids on my own. And lots of women do it, but having a partner beside us enriches both us and the children.”

Padma Lakshmi Talks About Losing The Baby Weight

Did Padma Lakshmi feel pressured to lose all the baby weight so that she could get back to filming Top Chef?

“I did, and then I didn’t,” Padma, 39, who welcomed daughter Krishna three months ago but returned to work after just six weeks, told Us Magazine at the second Annual Blossom Ball at the New York Public Library Thursday.

“I did for a minute and then I just had to give it up because it was an unhealthy and futile exercise,” added Padma, who struggled to get pregnant because of her endometriosis. “Because of my condition, I had a complicated pregnancy, and so I was bedridden for six weeks.”

“The minute I wasn’t bedridden… I got to work…. I was 25 pounds heavier than people are used to seeing me. There was nothing I could do about it, so I just accepted it,” she added. “I just thought, I had a baby, that’s way more important. Women are beautiful in all shapes and sizes and I wanted to show women that you can dress well, that you can still feel sexy, that you can still feel confident, and it was OK if my boobs were big because I  was feeding another human being.”

Padma, who boxes and runs on the treadmill, does admit that she hopes to lose more weight.

“I felt good then, I feel good now, I’ll feel even better when I lose the last 15 pounds,” she said.

Padma shared that she is cherishing her “quiet moments” with her daughter. “I love giving her a bath in the bathtub. I love just holding her and nursing her and falling asleep with her on my chest.”

“Luckily, she’s a good eater,” Padma shared. “She doesn’t have any choice — It’s basically me or nothing!”

Evidence Mounts That Gwen Stefani Is Expecting Her Third Child!

Looks like the rumors that Gwen is expecting her third child may indeed be true! The LA Times reported that Gwen visited her OB/GYN on May 19th.

“Our spotter said Stefani, sans husband Gavin Rossdale, was looking gorgeous for her appointment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where her boys Kingston and Zuma were both delivered,” the LA Times’ Matt Donnelly said.

Recently Gwen, 40, was seen sporting Sea Bands, which help curb morning sickness. Also, Gwen – mom to sons, Kingston, 3, and Zuma, 20 months — has said she’d love to have a daughter.

Last month InTouch Weekly reported that Gwen was overheard chatting with a friend over a mani-pedi at Planet Nails & Spa in West Hollywood, “Not only are we trying for another baby, but we’re trying for a girl. It’s complicated but there are things you can do to better your chances of having a daughter.”

And Gwen told the April issue of In Style that she wasn’t trying to prevent getting pregnant! “But it’s not up to me anyway, you know? These things are miracles, so we’ll see.”

Sources say Gwen is due sometime this fall…we’ll see!

The Controversy Over Julie Bowen's Breastfeeding Photo

‘Modern Family’ mom Julie Bowen, 40, visited ‘Lopez Tonight’ Monday, where she told George Lopez all about how she nurses her twin boys, John and Gus, who just turned 1. (Julie also has an older son Oliver, 5)  Julie shared that she lets the boys nurse at the same time and showed the above photo.

“It’s like two little liposuction machines on you,” she said. “They suck the fat out of you. They call it the ‘double football hold.’ You hold one here, and here [gesturing to her breasts], like two footballs… They’re doing God’s work right there, helping me return to my birth weight.”

Here are pictures of Julie in a bikini in March that prove that breastfeeding really does seem to have helped her slim down!

Julie, who looked stunning on the show, honestly admitted to George that working is a vacation. “Working is so much easier,” than being at home. Home is a constant onslought of tiny genitilia and poop.”

“I had the picture and I hope you are brave enough to show it,” she told George. “It’s the end of my career.” There has been a report that when Julie appeared earlier on The View, she wasn’t allowed to show the pic. But she did talk hilariously to “the ladies” about breastpumping, while driving!
Many people were offended by the photo of Julie breastfeeding her twins. I think it is truly bizarre that people would find a photo of a mother breastfeeding shocking and offensive.

Here’s the video of Julie discussing breastfeeding with George Lopez…
