Roger Federer & Girlfriend Expecting Their First Child

World No. 2 ranked tennis player Roger Federer announced on his blog that he and girlfriend, Mirka Vavrinec, are expecting their first child together.

“I also have some really awesome news to share with all of you,” he said after telling fans that he is eager to get back out on court after a back injury. “Mirka and I are excited to let you know that we will be parents this summer!”

Roger, who arrived in Indian Wells, California, earlier this week for the Masters tournament, is excited to be a dad.

“Mirka is pregnant and we are so happy to be starting a family together,” he wrote. “This is a dream come true for us. We love children, and we are looking forward to being parents for the first time. Mirka is feeling great and everything is going well.”

Best Wishes!

#7 a family should not be defined by a piece of paper.

a family should be defined as children having one or more parents who care for them, spiritually, emotionally and physically. children having parents who put a roof over their head, food on the table, clothes on their beak, lend them a shoulder to cry on, have an ear to listen, and love them more then anything.
if this is a singel father, single mother, mother and father not being married, or gay parents should not matter.

I agree when my Mom says soon there will be no families left (as in a married couple with kids)
Best wishes to them but please get married first!

They’ve been together for 9 years. Their relationship is much more stronger than most married couples. Seriously.

first of all, congrats to them. i’m sure they’ll be wonderful parents and roger is a very sweet and humble person. his girlfriend is beautiful.

second, come on people, why does it matter if they are married or not.
i know plenty of married people who are not commited to each other and/or their family. and i know people who aren’t married but are commited to eachother and their family.
that little piece of paper means nothing until one gets divorced.

most likely they’ll get married soon, in order for the child to get it’s fathers name. in switzerland, if two people aren’t married, the child gets the mothers name and the parents have a certain amoutn of time (i think it’s 3 months) to get married in order for the child to take the fathers name. if they wait longer then that it is a very difficult process for the child to be taking the fathers name and him legally being the parent.

I agree….why can’t people commit to each other before starting a family? Eloping is fast and cheap for goodness sakes…Geesh!
