Remember Anne?

Who is this?

Anne of Green Gables

Remember Anne of Green Gables!? Anne was played by Megan Follows who is now 39 and has two children; daughter Lyla Anne (born in 1992) and son Russell (born in 1995) with her ex-husband Christopher Porter.

And the very hot Gilbert Blythe was played by Jonathan Crombie who is now 41. Jonathan is unmarried and has no children.

Anne of Green Gables

I LOVED Anne of Green Gables so much! I had a crush on Gilbert…but didn’t everyone!? 🙂 I can’t wait to watch the whole series all over again with my daughter when she’s older!

Wouldn’t it have been great if Megan and Jonathan had gotten married?

You remind me of a broken record “O”…move on!!…everybody knows what I said months ago and perhaps it was not the most appropriate thing to say to an expectant mother but my buttons were pushed and I typed the first thing that came to my mind…For somebody that is so spiritual and mentions God in her posts – you have not practiced the Bible’s doctrine of “turning the other cheek” and about “forgiveness”…rather you have been harping on about what kind of person I am and how people on this post should not interact with me or befriend me…now i ask you – is that the Christian thing to do? Do you think that God would be proud of you?!
I don’t think so!! God had already forgiven me…it’s your turn to move forward and not be so “stuck” in your negative aura! I’m not looking for forgiveness from you. I find it sad that you are so fixated on spreading venom about me to others. That is ungodly!!

dori, I wanted them together also and yes indeed, Gilbert was very good looking! I wonder if she still lives in Canada?

2teens, I forgot to add that yes indeedy, many on here shoot off their mouth, myself leading the pack, and I have been rude many times of which I regret, but to me, a person shooting off their mouth, and wishing babies born retarded, are two different things. Sorry, just my opinion!

  6. dori says

Oh… I loved Anna of Green Gables and I’ll watch it whenever I can catch it on TV./ All three episodes were great and Gilbert was so cute .I wanted them together so badly!!!

  7. 2teens says

Oriana, I understand and appreciate your concern and I am aware that I have things in common with many of the other posters on here… but I was only specifically questioned as to what I have in common with Jx2, so I responded to that. There are many folks posting here who’s wit & humor I enjoy.
As I said, I don’t agree with some of the mean things said… but people shoot off their mouths sometimes, myself included. I’m not naive or innocent, I’ve been around the block enough times to be able to look out for myself.
I am touched that you’re concerned for me but it’s really not necessary. I will continue to enjoy conversing with many of the posters here, yourself & Jx2 included.

  8. Jx2 says

My greatest concern is that ORhino has fallen off the deep end and is paranoid beyond recognition.

For Pete’s sake “O” – get a life and stop intruding into other’s people’s convos…are you that bored? Have nothing else to do? Live alone? Are you a recluse or a homebody…get outside, go for a walk and eat a banana split (among other foods) and let 2teens talk to whomever she chooses…How many times do you have to “warn” her? You know, computers have not as of yet been designed to allowed the poster to bite someone through the monitor…otherwise believe me I would bit you!!! Arrrrrgh! LOL LOL

  9. oriana says

2teens, please do not become personal friends with her away from here! I am concerned about you trusting her. I don’t think she is someone with her character you would want around your children at all! REMEMBER, this is a person who wished Kimora’s mommy’s baby be born with Down Syndrome! She is evil! I myself enjoyed the wit that another person on her had, and she was super intelligent herself, but I found out on down the road, she was a snake in the grass!

You are too nice and smart to get caught in that trap, I think you feel you have some common interests, but you are nothing close to compare to someone like her!

There are many people including myself that have some of the same interests you do, I am a Democrat, I care about the environment, I care about the homeless and the poverty stricken people, I am not an artist like you but there are others that are that are decent, caring people in this world! Xena is Wiccan and they don’t come any better than her! She cares about the earth and has compassion for people.

Who in the world would say they wished JLo or anyone for that matter, get killed in a car wreck? That is just plain vicious! My greatest fear is not to die alone like she stated, and who would even suggest that about anyone either? Mean and cruel, you are not on that lowlife level my Dear!

My greatest concern, not fear, is not to die alone, it is worrying about my pets when I am not here to take care of them and love them like I do, it is fearing for my son’s and my sister getting hurt and not having their mother around or sister around to be there for them, but mostly, I want them to believe in God and live a good life so we can be reunited one day in a better world, a better place.

Just a word of caution to you because I do like you very much. You have the right to choose whom you want to converse with and even accept for a friend, but I would hate to ever see you get hurt and I think she is beneath contempt!

I have sold some of my work on e-bay too. I did some painting on denim jackets which were very unique. They sold well. I don’t do as much as I would like to, I need to be in the right frame of mind or it just doesn’t flow. Sometimes life gets in the way of art, especially with two teenagers in the house.
I know exactly what you mean about blood diamonds. I don’t ever care to receive another diamond in my life unless there are some major changes in that part of the world.
I love doing nude sketching with charcoal. Every Saturday there is a class in my town where anyone can come in with their sketch pad & it’s really great practice. The model will change position every 5 minutes so you have to work fast & then flip the page. The class is only $5.00 which is pretty good.
I wish I could see your website or blog, but I understand if you don’t want to post that info here.

    Hey JJ :-D,
I almost always use pastels & charcoal. I sometimes use india ink with watercolor. I mainly do portraiture but I will draw anything that I see beauty in… nature, still life, animals etc.
What are you doing with the gold, silver and gemstones? Making jewelry?

  15. oriana says

I remember during 9/11 Al Gore was in Newfoundland, he said the people there were so wonderful to him. Also, many Americans were stranded there when the planes could not take off and many were redirected there. The people there embraced them and put out the Red Carpet so to speak. Many Americans went back to visit with the host families afterwards and have made lifelong friends.

To me, this gesture and hospitality personifies what every country should be proud to do, and in my opinion the Canadians set an example and a standard that very few can compare with. Even the USA!

  16. Jx2 says

2teens – I appreciate your honesty and respect your opinion! BTW – as an artist what sort of medium do you work with?
I currently work with semi precious gemstones, gold and silver. But I’ve also dappled with pottery, oil paint, resins, woodwork, watercolours, charcoal, oil pastels…

Oriana – next time – don’t ask for what you do not wish to happen…by saying “bring it on!” – your wish is my command I’m pretty certain that you have regretted saying that now.

  17. Rijay says

I love Anne of Green Gables too! Read the books too. Another film series in that type of genre is the “Love Comes Softly” series, directed by Michael Landon Jr. My favorite from that series is “Love’s Enduring Promise”.

  18. oriana says

Thank you Freya, looks like I am going to have to make a trip to the library and do some reading!

  19. Freya says

Christine did you see the musical in Charlottetown? My godfather/cousin and his family live just outside of the city and when I was about 14 (28 now), we went to see them and took in the musical as well.

  20. Freya says

oriana the most recent installment strayed big time. The one with Gilbert being lost/kidnapped during the war and Anne going overseas….well let’s just say that isn’t how it happened in the books.

As for being pompous or what not….I’m far from it. I couldn’t even get through all this back and forth silliness. Come off it. If I have something to say, I’ll say it. Otherwise I’ll go back to being a silent observer.

  21. Christine says

Loved loved loved the movies and books. Was even taken to Green Gables on Prince Edward Island when I was 15 for vacation. I always wanted to live there because of Anne and the movies!

  22. oriana says

Freya, going back to the Anne books, I read where the one film strayed from the storyline, I didn’t read all of them. Do you know what they meant? How did the last book end? Now I am curious! I do love this series and the settings!

  23. oriana says

2teens, as far as Jx2 and her attacks against me, I knew she would be insulting and vile when I defended Nicki and told her to “bring it on”. It didn’t surprise me all that much. When I said I was surprised over you defending her and didn’t think you had that much in common with her, I wasn’t thinking about all the things you above mentioned.

I was thinking about how she was so malicious in stating she wished people like JLo would die and wishing babies being born with disabilities, to me, that shows how low her character really is. I don’t see you in that category at all.

I don’t think she is sincere at all about being nicer to people, again I am not referring to me, I am through with her and I don’t consider her trustworthy under any circumstances, I think she has a “dark” personality and thrives on attacks and stirring up strife. I hope you don’t get too close to the fire and get burned on down the road.

I have admired and enjoyed you, and I will continue too, even if we disagree, again, that is what makes the world go round! You have a nice weekend!!!!!!

  24. 2teens says

Jx2- Damn that sounds like one spoiled kid, your neighbor! Ha! I just help my son with his schoolwork. He has a short attention span when it comes to school so I really have to stay on him. Believe me, he knows how to do his own laundry… both my kids are responsible for their own stuff. I have also taught him to never underestimate the female sex. He is a budding democrat & liberal just like his mom! 😀

  25. 2teens says

I think that’s about it and hopefully that answers any questions or confusion you may have felt about me defending Jx2.

  26. 2teens says

I do have quite a bit in common with Jx2 and many of her standards and beliefs seem to fall along the same lines as mine. These are a few of the things I have noticed that I might have in common with Jx2: I don’t consider myself a christian but I do believe in a higher power… I do not care for organized religion… I am for gay rights… I am pro-choice…. I am not a r.a.cist…. I am a liberal… I am a Democrat… I try not to stereotype people by their race or nationality…. I care about the environment… I care about the poor… I have an interest in holistic healing… I am an artist…
I don’t agree with the way Jx2 has been treating you lately, and I do wish that she would find different way to make her point with you. I think Jx2 is smart & funny most of the time… and I think in her last few posts that she said she was going to try & be nicer.
The problem I am having with Freya right now is her know-it-all attitude. She posts 10+ times per thread and challenges someone nearly everytime she posts. She doesn’t just challenge Jx2. I don’t care for Freya because I think she is pompous and annoying. Maybe that will change – I dont know.
The reason I have defended Jx2 you may notice is only when she is stating her opinion, which she has every right to do… and then she is attacked for it. I have not ever defended her for using vulg.arit.ies against you or Nicki because as I said… I don’t agree with that.

  27. 2teens says

My reply is under moderation so I am going to send it in sections, here goes:
Hi Oriana, I hope that you & I will continue to stay friends. Sometimes we agree on issues and other times we don’t. That’s ok, it happens. I know that you and Jx2 do not get along. I have had my issues with her in the past as well. But you know I said some pretty shi.t.t.y things to Jx2 myself at one time – I consider that to be in the past and I’m pretty sure that she does too.

  28. Jx2 says

    Ahem Oriana!!!
Can you ever learn to butt out of other peoples conversations and stop trying to monopolize things!!!
Do you think you are capable of minding your own business??? 2teens is an adult and as such can make up her own mind about who she chooses to converse with.
Are you really that concerned for 2teens well-being or are you just being extremely jealous and resentful.
You know you may have other people fooled about your “niceness” and how you try to come across as a “charming” elderly woman by calling people DEAR al the time, but I really see through your smoke screen…and I find you quite pathetic to say the least!!! Get lost!!

  29. Jx2 says

  30. Jx2 says

oops !! that previous comment i made got somehow mixed up as I was trying to figure out which word was blocked from being posted.

  31. Jx2 says

2teens – There is a 20*something year o*ld m*an living in the apart*ment above from me and his parents drop by weekly to bring him his groceries and drop of his laundry. LOL!
It’s actually quite sad – in my opinion – because his parents are an elderly couple. I think it’s important for men to learn to do these kinds of things for themselves – it makes for a better well-rounded man, spouse, partner when he can assist around the house and even do things for himself when he moves out on his own.

  32. oriana says

2teens, I consider you one of my friends on here and I have enjoyed you for a long time now, and will continue too. However, I don’t see that Freya has been nasty to her, she has not resorted to the language that Jx2 has used has she?

I know there are many that enjoy reading her comments (or some of them at least) but I am kind of surprised that you defend her like you have. I don’t picture the two of you having that much in common at all.

  33. Jx2 says

2teens – I wa*sn’t as fort*una*te to ha*ve the he*lp of my par*ents with sch*ool wo*rk when in eleme*ntary sch*ool unit upstairs from me and his parents drop by weekly to bring him his gro*ceries and his lau*ndry(!) LOL…I think that they even cle*an his apar*tment for him and they happen to be an eld*erly co*uple…!!
Actually, it’s not really fun*ny – it’s very sad! Please allow your son to be indepen*dent when he gets older – men become better spou*ses and part*ners by learning to do things for them*selves.

  34. oriana says

Freya, they went last year on a short weekend cruise to Vancouver and Victoria, they loved it up there! They said the people were soooo nice and friendly, the country was gorgeous and my son and nephew bought want to move there. My nephew is in college at U.C. Santa Cruz and my son works for me. I really want them to go back soon and stay longer. They were amazed at all the merchandise in the stores they have up there that we don’t here, and they said wonderful restaurants of every type. They were all very impressed!

  35. 2teens says

I can’t even imagine when he reaches university level… I hope he’ll be more of a self starter by then and won’t need my help as much.
It’s a memory refresher going back over all this stuff I once knew so many years ago. Hee hee!

  36. 2teens says

Good luck with your report. I am working on high school biology with my son right now, mainly taxonomy & the different kingdoms that all living things are placed into. I enjoy it much better that the algebra I must confess!

  37. Jx2 says

Glad you mentioned it 2teens – I noticed it myself! I think she wants to desperately stick it to me for some reason – who knows (?) – perhaps she feels threatened by me and wants to prove to herself that she can have the upper hand…I’m not going anywhere so whenever she’s ready we can joust till the Canadian winter thaws and the summer heat waves arrive…LOL

I’m on the computer a lot these days working on a biology report on the environment – it’s due in 2 weeks – so I pop in to this blog periodically to take some much needed breaks…anyway, back to work I go!

  38. 2teens says

JX2, I’m noticing a pattern here. Even if you say something relatively benign Freya jumps all over your ass. I wonder whats up with that?

  39. Jx2 says

Both PEI and Nova Scotia belong to the Maritime provinces…it’s not as if I said Winnipeg when it was filmed in PEI…PEI and NS are a hop skip and jump away from one another and the Maritimes almost always get lumped together anyhow..like I mentioned in my post earlier i was never a fan of the series so why should I want to read up on it now??

  40. Freya says

Jx2-Maybe you should get a map out and look. Or perhaps read up on our province’s history.

oriana-No not all have been made into movies, but that would be nice, lol. What part of Canada did they visit? We’re a pretty big country so our climate and scenary is different wherever you go.

  41. oriana says

Freya, I looked at the website you posted, thank you! Very interesting! I didn’t know there were more books! Have they all been made into movies? I would love them!! I think I am going to watch the three I have tomorrow, I think they are wonderful and I do love Megan. I think she is very pretty too.

I really enjoyed reading the interesting facts posted about each one.

The scenery in Canada is breathtaking! My husband, nephew and son went last year and fell in love with the place, my son wants to move there to live!

  42. Jx2 says

You mean Canadians don’t live in igloos???REALLY? Oh gee, I had no idea…Nova Scotia ..PEI…what’s the diff!!!?

  43. NSGirl says

As a Maritimer it’s great to see Canadian talent on a website such as this!! Anne of Green Gables is a great PEI story and am happy to see other fans!! Check out Ellen Page, our newest local talent!

  44. Freya says

Here Jx2-take a moment and educate yourself. I’ll post the link and here’s an excerpt:

“There have been a few film adaptations of Anne of Green Gables over the years, but none can compare to the Kevin Sullivan production (1985), which is known for being most true to the original book. Anne of Green Gables was filmed in Canada, on Prince Edward Island (less than 5%!!) and in Southern Ontario (much or it at The Westfield Heritage Centre).”

    http://greengables.tripod.com/history.html

And if that isn’t good enough for you, just Google the Kevin Sullivan production for more information. The next thing you’ll be telling us is that all Canadians live in igloos!

  45. Freya says

Jx2-Actually it was filmed mostly in Prince Edward Island and Ontario. I’m from Nova Scotia and I can assure you it wasn’t filmed here.

  46. Jx2 says

    DON”T EVEN GO THERE O-RHINO!!!

I DID NOT MAKE THAT COMMENT TO SUMMER-OKAY!!!

I would not have said “take a chill pill” I would have said go and eat a bucket of fried chicken…as I know how fond you are of Southern cooking – oh yeah, and Southern hospitality DEAR!!

  47. Jx2 says

I was never a fan of the Anne of Green Gables series but I did watch Little House as a child..btw – the Anne of Green Gables is a Canadian story…Megan Follows is Canadian…and parts of the show were filmed in Nova Scotia – Canadian Maritimes!

  48. Zbella says

Of course I remember Anne – with an E. She’s so great. LOVED that series. I’ve seen her in a few Law & Order episodes over the years too. Gilbert was too hot for words. Why have we never seen him again.

  49. oriana says

Hi Summer, just wanted you to know that #7 was not from me. I have been in meetings all day and just got on here. Someone, and we all know who, is playing their childish stupid games again. I enjoy you and would never say “chill pill”. Sorry about that! My apologies to you for someone’s ignorance!!!!

  50. Jessie says

OMG Freya! I love you! You say everything I’m thinking! Haha, I watched Ellen too but I heard about that a while back. It’s too sad. :[

  51. 2teens says

I never saw the Anne of Green Gables show but I did read the books. I was always more of a Little House fan… I read all those books through at least 3 times. I enjoyed the tv series too.

  52. Freya says

How on earth is it “gay” to enjoy Anne of Green Gables? Maybe you would benefit from watching Ellen today, The Original Summer….she had a very good message for people like yourself.

Anyway, I have always loved Anne, Road to Avonlea and another favourite are The Little House on the Prairie books and the show.

  53. Melissa says

Loved Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea! Definitely my favorite movie/s ever. My favorite part…When she smashes the slate over his head when he calls her “Carrots” and when he saves her when the “Lady of Shalott” skit goes wrong. A classic series of books/movies to be sure. Thanks for posting that! Whoever runs this page, you definitely seem like you’ve got some kindred spirits here.
    😉

  54. Missy says

OMG this is probably my favorite movie set of all time. I watch it all the time and I’ve introduced several little girls, 10 yrs and under, to the books.

Jon is currently doing a lot of work in theatre and is doing VERY well. He’s fabulous. Look him up on YouTube there’s a lot of clips of him there.

  55. oriana says

I loved the books and the series, she was wonderful. I am happy for her and hope she is doing good. Gilbert was very handsome! This is such a great set of movies for young girls to watch. I have them all!

  56. Freya says

I love the books and the movies. I’ve been to PEI and seen the museum/house. I still have a crush on Gilbert, lol. Did you like Road to Avonlea? I’m all about Gus Pike and Felix is hot now! 😛
