Kim Clijsters & Brian Lynch Welcome A Daughter

Kim Clijsters

Former U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters gave birth to a daughter Wednesday, nine months after retiring from tennis.

Kim and her husband, American basketball player Brian Lynch, named the baby Jada.

“The parents and the baby are in great shape,” spokesman Jeroen Jespers said.

Kim, 24, retired in May, saying a string of injuries had led to fatigue, a lack of motivation and a decline in play. She said she wanted to focus a new life with Brian, who plays in the Belgian league.

Kim was Belgium’s first tennis player to reach the No. 1 ranking, holding it for 19 weeks in 2003.

She won her only Grand Slam title at the 2005 U.S. Open, but Kim also won the 2002 and 2003 WTA Championships as part of her 34 career singles titles.

According to Kim’s web site, the baby, born at a hospital in Tongeren, weighed 6.69 pounds and measured 20.08 inches.

Below they were snapped leaving the hospital with Jada.

Congratulations to Kim and Brian! The girl’s full name, as I’ve seen from other boards is Jada Elly Lynch. Visiting the tennis boards, I cannot believe people were making fun of her for *gasp* still having extra weight on her 24 hrs after giving birth (which is when these photos were taken). Guess people have seen too much of hollywoods moms who pop back into shape immediately

They absolutely refuse to let anyone leave the hospital unless they get wheeled out (where I live)… even if you are perfectly healthy & capable of walking. Probably to cover their butts against a lawsuit if someone gets lightheaded & faints on their way out, which could easily happen after being medicated or sedated. i guess it’s different in Tongeren.
