Helena and Mingus are enjoying their time together.
Mingus is so lucky to have a mum like Helena.
At least when his older and working, he won’t have to worrying about borrowing money from the bank.

I honestly thought this was Dakota Fanning when I saw these pictures…. the resemblance is uncanny!

Who cares if he has training wheels and he’s 7! Everybody learns at different rates! Not every kid is the same, there may be a “norm” but not everybody falls into it! I know that I took FOREVER to learn how to ride a bike because I was so scared to learn and the whole balance thing just frightened me. I think I was about 7 or 8 as well… and my younger sister actually got the hang of it before I did (she is 2 yrs younger) since we were learning at the same time. I now know how to ride a bike and can do so without a problem… the kid will eventually learn so people just chill.

Are they perhaps of scandinavian anchestry? I don’t know them at all, but the names Helena Christensen and Mingus sound scandinavian to me. Is she perhaps an acress or model? Does anybody know?

  5. DD says

She needs to get off her cell phone and help her poor son at age 7 learn to ride his bike without training wheels for Goodness sakes!!!!

Mingus was the name of one of the parrots in that documentary film The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill…that’s what kind of name Mingus is, #1 & 2…lol.

^^^ I agree with Elsa, it should be obvious to everyone from the photos that they live in the city. Priorities are different there and you just can’t send a 7 year old out to play. Of course he will learn slower.
Secondly, even in the suburbs some kids keep their training wheels longer than others… some kids are timid, afraid of being hurt. Others fear nothing and are gung-ho.

  8. Elsa says

PEOPLE…. perhaps he never had an INTEREST in learning and just decided to try recently… give me a break. The kid has training wheels…call DYFUS why not… And before I get “ALL” kids…no – not ALL kids are into that. He lives in the city and has a very different life than many of us. In suburbia USA kids are itching to learn to drive cars as soon as they can, children in NYC don’t learn sometimes until they are 30 because there is just no need…. CHILL.

#5 A 7 yr should not need training wheels. A 2 yr old doesn’t belong on a skateboard. Little less time on the internet maybe?

    Helena looks terrible.

  10. lolkok says

No he doesn’t look like Dakota. He looks like Elle. Dakota’s little sister. There’s a difference. Haha.

  11. Granny says

One granddaughter learned to ride without trainers at 5 but her sister didn’t catch on until 8. Kids just are different. I don’t think there is a right or wrong age to learn. And in our neck of the woods bikers wear helmets too.

  12. Jana says

I don’t care how old you are when you get your training wheels off, ’cause that really is a practice thing, but he should be wearing a helmet, in our neck of the woods it is a law!!!

A child learns to ride when a parent teaches him and he’s able, by 7 years old yes he’s able so parental issues there!

My daughter is 6 and has just had a bike ride-a-thon at school, all the children in her year joined in and the only one who had stabilisers was the little boy who has cerbral palsy and he was in his wheelchair. So names not important and sara, it very much DOES seem STRANGE to me that he is riding his bike with stabilisers.

Cute Kid….my daughter learned to ride her bike without training wheels at 6…but it wasn’t on a busy NY street…it was in the wide open spaces of Utah. Thanks goodness!

  17. Names not important says

Squeeky Sue how many kids do you have? I have three, a seven year old with stabilizers, a four year old without stabilizers, and a two year old on a skateboard. Age isnt the issue its the individual child……

  18. squeeky sue says

Forget about the poor lads name, he should not be riding his bike with stabilisers at this age.

Okay, I want those long legs! What is the rule about not wearing mini skirts after 35. 😉 Not that I agree with the “rule”, but I don’t think the rule applies to her!

  20. boo says

I absolutely Agree, thats the kind of name that gets kids criticized and bullied at school being called names like Dingus…Poor Kid, he is definitely a cute kid, but that name is awful!!!!
