Ex-Hollyoaks star Davinia Taylor, 29, and husband David Gardner, 31, welcomed their first child – a son named Grey – on Tuesday. Grey was born at the Portland Hospital in London and weighed 7lb.
Reportedly, Davinia immediately called best friend Kate Moss and David Beckham to share with them the joyous news and to ask whether they would be little Grey’s godparents.
Kate, who has a four-year-old daughter Lila Grace by publisher Jefferson Hack, was delighted at the news and visited the hospital yesterday afternoon.
A friend of Kate’s said: “Kate’s been in constant touch with Davinia as the birth got closer and she is over the moon for her friend.
“She had an inkling that Davinia might ask her to be godmother and she was absolutely overjoyed when she got the nod.”
A friend of Davinia said: “Kate and Davinia have been so close for ages that Kate was the obvious choice for godmother. Davinia spent loads of time with Kate and Lila Grace and sees what a great mum she is.”
David Beckham and Posh are expected to visit this weekend after Posh flies from LA tomorrow as part of the Spice Girls reunion.
Davinia and Dave were married in the summer of 2003. David Beckham, a long-term pal of former Man U footballer Dave, was joint best man with his former teammate Phil Neville, and Brooklyn Beckham was a page boy.
A friend said: “Davinia and Dave knew right from when Davinia got pregnant who they had wanted as godparents but they had kept it quiet and Davinia could hardly stop grinning when she called David and Kate.”
Davinia – a leading member of the trendy Primrose Hill set of actors and stars – has been best friends with supermodel Moss for years.
Friends said that Dave and Davinia were overjoyed with their new arrival and were last night resting at their London home.
